So there was this personals ad which spoke out to me... |
|
He's way-cute and he even said in his ad he wanted someone "goofy".
As you all know, I'm goofy.
Unfortunately, he said he wanted someone relatively in shape though isn't a gym nut. I've a teensy tummy myself... I don't think the eczema helps either.
Should I strike up a conversation? If so, how should I do it? He also said he's an introvert...

3. Well there's one thing you could talk about- politics |
|
Also, just ask him about himself. Everybody likes to talk about themselves and it shows that your really interested in him.

As for the cuteness, there's no indication he's a gym bunny or anything. Just a cute loveable face...
Besides, it'll be fun to find out just exactly how far left he is. :D
I wonder if he's been to DU or not...

5. Did he use the exact term "relatively in shape"? |
|
If so that is open to interpretation. Send him a quick response, include a picture, and your honest weight and height (hell, give your chest and waist measurements). Get it out in the open, no use hiding who you are.
If someone says they are looking for a person with a "swimmer's build" or more specific traits and you don't match it, then skip it altogether.

"general fitness without the gym being a second home" was the actual comment.
Which is strange since he claims to want a 'relationship' and all the other signs point that way. But wanting a certain body type indicates wanting less than a relationship. Or that's how the rule usually goes...
Well, I'll still write. If nothing else, he'll like DU! :D
And, besides, all gay men seem to comment on what sort of 'types' they want, regardless if they want a fling, a relationship, or just a disease. And the type is generally the same: "Swimmers' build with ripping muscles, no tan lines, this, that, and the other thing. Must be secure, stable, normal, not a fem, no fatties, et cetera" - in other words, they have frigging clue what a relationship is about!!! :eyes: What is remarkable is the fact none of them is honest enough to openly ask for a guy with a gigantic 'whatsit' to go along with the body that'll age and wrinkle up anyway, although most everybody rather charmingly and nondescriptly enters their 'measurement' in the ad anyway...

8. It sounds promising, and you can always torture him |
|
about the incongruity of Progressive values with "look-ism" if he doesn't accept your leftist belly. (But do it without sounding bitter. :)

9. I already said 'no hard feelings' |
|
My own ad does say I have 'a little tummy which I am working on'.
But it is a personals ad. He could be lying about his political status for all I know. But he does come across as honest.
Hmmm, I hope my wishy-washy ad doesn't turn him off... I did say 'no one night stands' and my ad could be interpreted as being 'relationship oriented without sounding arrogant and stuffy about the concept'. If I say "Looking for a life partner", even diplomatically, nobody would ever respond. Gotta be calm, cool, collected, and crisp in a salad. :D
