1. not [only] America
The Solar Flares were global, and Europe had its share of bad luck as well (Prestige Oil, Heatwave, lousy economy, strange American President, Storms, forest Fire, wacko EU President, ...)

2. It's God pissed off
that people think they and Bush are doing His will.

Hell if I sacraficed my son for these idiots and they went off perverted everything he said and continued to wage war and hate, I would start sending fires, floods, famine, and plagues too.

3. Devloping the negative view is the first step to clarity
We just need to reverse the image and fill in the hues. Things are really no different now than has been seen before and will be seen again.

We have played this scene before.

4. Did somebody eat one missionary too many?
http://www.news.com.au/common/story_page/0,4057,7855756%255E1702,00.html

VILLAGERS in a remote Fijian village staged long and elaborate ceremonies of apology today to the relatives of a British missionary their ancestors killed and ate 136 years ago.

<snip>

Rev. Thomas Baker was killed in 1867 at Nabutautau, a remote community high in the hills of the South Pacific island of Viti Levu. Residents say their community has been cursed since Baker and eight Fijian followers were consumed.

Today they offered cows, specially woven mats and 30 rare carved sperm whale teeth known as tabua to 10 Australian descendants of Rev. Baker, an intrepid Wesleyan missionary.

In a mixture of ancient Melanesian pagan and modern Christian ceremonies the people tried again to erase the misfortunes they believe have kept them poor since that long-ago meal.

<snip>

Nawawabalavu is the great grandson of the chief responsible for cooking the missionary in an earthen oven.

Past apologies have not helped. The village last said sorry in 1993, when it presented the Methodist Church of Fiji with Baker's boots - which cannibals had tried unsuccessfully to cook and eat.

<snip>

Villagers believe that since 1867 either Baker's spirit or old disapproving gods have made sure that modern developments like electricity, a school, piped water supply and other essentials most Fijian villagers enjoy have been kept from them.

8. Maybe we should apologize to the Election Gods for serving up a Loser of a
Leader.

We seem to have some real bad luck since. The true clue was Boston losing the Pennent and the Cubs Curse of the Goats.

Snow in LA??

Floods in WV??

Crocs in Hong Kong?
