Dogie Halloween party at the cancer clinic. Need dogie costume ideas.
I just got a call from the Upstate Veterinary Specialty Clinic (SC). They are the ones who's wonderful staff treated sweet Sirius for cancer from Valentine's day to 8/25, when he died in my arms there at their clinic. A member of his "team", who I will forever love, called to check on me!

When she was sure I was OK, she invited me to a Halloween party for their oncology and chemo patients, with Nick-Nick standing in Sirius' stead. It will be a dogie costume party with treats and favors.

Below are pictures of Sirius and Nick-Nick (they look a lot alike). I'm thinking of painting Nick-Nick's paws and breast with a water-soluble, non-toxic, white skin paint. Then he can go to the party as Sirius (study the photos).

I'm opened to other ideas for Nick-Nick.

Sirius (1993-2005) (4-big white paws are not shown)

Nick-Nick (Party Dog!)

BTW: We have good friend, a Presbyterian minister (PCUSA), who loved Sirius. This guy was at one time the pastor at the Park Avenue Presbyterian in Manhattan, the Westminster Presbyterian in Alexandria, VA, the Presbyterian Meeting House in Old Town Alexandria, VA, and others. He has offered to conduct a funeral service for Sirius. It will be in Alexandria and I will post the details here. We might as well make a dogie wake a DU party. Eh?

Mac

2. Corny, hackneyed dog costume idea: "Hot Dog".
Some kind of styrofoam/paper maiche bun on either side of the dog, and maybe a long squiggle of foam/"mustard" on their back.

3. Dressing up dogs is a sickness.
I can't help it. Dogs in costumes are so cute. My dogs don't mind it, although my girl puppy won't wear hats. :P

I think it'd be great for Nick-Nick to go as Sirius. Paint is easier on dogs than a fabric costume. You could add a Halloween-theme bandana around his neck too.

4. Nick-Nick ain't taking no costume! I'll tell you that now.
But he will take the white shoe polish, or whatever, and go to the party as Sirius.

9. My friend put one of those on her dog last year
it looked a little odd on a 97 lb wolf hybrid.

7. DemoTex...I am a dog lover and love reading your posts!
I was sorry to hear about Sirius...such a handsome boy.

Nick-Nick is a good looking dog, too. I love his name-- how did he get it? (We call my son Dan-Dan...don't ask me why. It just happened and it fits.)

15. That sounds kinda creepy to me.
Like that Simpsons episode where Ned tried to do up his girlfriend's hair to look like Maude's.

Frankly, this sounds like a very bad way of coping with your loss. Let Nick-Nick be Nick-Nick, I say.

16. Are you sitting down?

This concept could be applied to lots of other ideas, too... business suit, lederhosen, evening gown, Superman, whatever...
