7. It's real!
it is a tee-shirt being sold by the FreeRepublic.com

They seem to think war is fun - I believe "Eagles Up" is a type of unifying war cry for the freepers.

3. Some kind of freeper thing that gives them boners, thereby
making them feel like "real men," and not the momma's-basement wankers that they really are.

Use the search function. There was a thread about this a while back.

9. Freakin' chickenhawks are unbelievable. If you freepers want
"real war fun", how about a little visit to your local recruiting office? The recruiters will give you all the "eagles up" you can handle!

6. That's from "Larry the Cable Guy"
He's part of Jeff Foxworthy's "Blue Collar Comedy Tour," though that name is a huge disservice to the many wonderful blue collar people I know. Basically, it's a stand up comedy act about huntin', fishin', drinkin' and bein' a redneck (why it's not the "Redneck Comedy Tour" is beyond me). Larry's signature phrase is Git r' Done! :puke: A celebration of hicks.

8. It is, in the common tongue of those folks, their rallying cry.
Edited on Tue Oct-04-05 10:41 PM by cssmall
I reckon that it primarily comes from the phrase "Cowboy Up," which is a rallying cry for rodeo men. They, of course, have changed this to "Eagles Up," which would mean that it is a cultural earmark of identity. For example, if one would say this phrase, then one would be entitled to the status of being a "true" Republican and "true" American, because in effect they are calling themselves "eagles" and anthropomorphising the eagle into a perfect creature, worthy of being all the ideals that the American flag and American bird mean. In other words, one could relate this to cultural insecurity and there is a parallel: the postbellum South and its tales of the gentry and slave owners after the war had decimated their way of life.

Sorry, if I bored you to death. :D

Edited for grammar and spelling.
