I love stoopid people.
I'm a member of another message board that's become regionally popular after the two hurricanes. Well, there is an ongoing thread about Michael Brown in which this one REALLY stupid person posted this:

I really have one thing to say. That is unless you have lived in the southern part of the US, an have been through a Hurricane you don"t no what it is like. YES the Mayor and Governor should have had evacuated everone.......... I have lived in Fl. For many years and you do get an advance notice to leave. There really is no notice when a Tornado comes. I really feel GOD needed to open the eyes of many people. I am not preaching an not taking sides. But come on I lived in Fl 30 years. only had one bad Hurricane come through and destroy Homestead AFB. People People when they say get prepared then listen and go. Thank you Mr Brown for your feed back. May God still be with all of those in TX,LA and all locations where the hurricanes hit.

Well, I find responding to stupid people nearly irresistable, so I posted this:

What you are forgetting is that the official track for Katrina changed from the Big Bend area of Florida to New ORleans in ONE UPDATE. That's a huge shift in track, and it happened just a couple of days before Katrina hit.

Usually, NOAA has a better grasp on where hurricanes will go. Katrina was no usual hurricane.

FEMA is a federal agency that should be equipped and prepared to assist in ANY national emergency, no matter where it happens. State governments had little time to prepare with Katrina.

And look at Rita. Look at the problems in Texas. The compaints we heard from Blanco and Nagin are being repeated by Texas officials, both Republicans and Democrats.

This isn't a partisan issue, except for the fact that this Republican president has a habit of cronyism in appointments. Look at his most recent supreme court nomination for more proof of that.

I'm in Mississippi. I'm a Katrina victim. I don't know why you think that only hurricane victims have a right to speak on this topic, since taxes paid by all Americans fund FEMA. But since you require the criterion that only hurricane victims in the south have a right to speak on this topic, I just thought I'd let you know that I am one.

Well, most everyone on the thread agreed with me. I guess it angered the stoopid woman, so here's her response (Maybe you can help me decipher it?):

My appologies to all of those in other states who were affected. But the power of prayers did bring one hurricanes down to a catagory 1 or sorrry 2. Sweetie I have also been through them . I believe Fema will give more help than the Red Cross. Texas has money.........They were prepared. These Hurricanes are and can be killers when they say leave go fast. I am sorry Mississippi was affected . But let accept it there could have been more states where tornados could have touch down. I my self lost a home in Fl. But left when was told to evacuated. Blame it on JEB BUSH. In Fl.

I read that, and I so badly only wanted to tell her that only my friends and my mama call me "sweetie," so back off, moron, but, instead, I posted this:

Ok, I'm trying to make some sense of your post...it's difficult to do.

Are you saying that Rita was not as devastating to Texas as Katrina was to MS and LA because Texans prayed it down to a small storm? That's almost as ridiculous as the people who say that God sent Katrina and Rita to wipe out casinos in MS and Louisiana.

As for whatever it is you are saying about tornadoes, Jeb Bush, and the Red Cross, all I can say is, "HUH?"

I'm sure that she will respond. It's quite fun responding to her.

1. Everybody knows that the world is full of stupid people,
so meet me at the mission at midnight, we'll divy up there...

Don't you just love debating with the brain-dead? Gorry-gee, we prayed and prayed and our neighborhood was spared by the tornadoes! :dunce: I guess that means that the people whose homes were demolished by the tornadoes just didn't pray hard enough, eh?

These people like to ignore reality and turn everything to talk of God. Then they don't have to face the shortcomings of the government officials they elected, or the appointees of their elected officials. The cognitive dissonance of doing that would make them far too uncomfortable. Better to blame the victims or to chalk it up to "God's Will". :eyes:

I swear, listening to/reading that sort of babble makes me feel like my head is going to explode.

5. The power of... prayer... brought it down to a Cat. 2?
Not colder water, but prayer? :banghead:

It's not religion I have a problem with - it's ignorance of basic scientific fact. Cooler water = weaker hurricane.

There's so much about this lady you're arguing with that makes me so frustrated... :banghead:

I don't know how you do it. :)
