the history of violence was HORRIBLE. |
|
I walked out.
viggo was hot though, and I still adore him, but this 'film' was pure crap.

Just another chance to make an "Edgy" film centered around violence, retaliation and retribution....

2. I left after sitting there, thinking...'it has to get better, it just has |
|
to...'
and it got worse.
My two guests visiting from out of town and the dh agreed (although they stayed for the shitty ending) and said it was one of the worst movies they had ever seen.
bad dialogue, bad directing, bad acting, bad bad bad bad. And I sat thru the Jerry Springer movie once! (that was horrible too, but at least you expected it)

4. there was a time when we went to two movies a week... |
|
those days are over, but we still see our fair share. I was dragged into Jerry Springer, it was the last movie I ever snuck into!
I also walked out on Sin City, but I know I am in the minority on that opinion.

So different and so stylized it was a true homage to the Film Noir movies I love....

8. Now THAT'S a movie we should've walked out on, but didn't |
|
I HATED Sin City and felt as if I'd been assaulted, afterwards. Excessive violence for the sake of itself does NOT make it "art" or "stylistic"...I don't care if it is based on some supposedly cool cartoon shit.
Shit is still shit. :puke:
My two cents, Shine

6. Viggo seemed sheepish on The Daily Show like he didn't want to |
|
promote the movie. I guess this is why.

7. We didn't actually walk out, but the people next to us did... |
|
strangely, right after the semi-violent sex scene on the stairs.
Not for everybody, I guess.
Oh well.

9. that was the last straw for me too...funny. (spoiler) |
|
When they started fighting, I thought to myself..."I bet she gets so turned on by the assault, they end up fucking right there on the stairs...because every woman dreams of sex being wrapped up in a violent act." As soon as the panties got ripped down, I was out.

11. In this case, the comic really is better... |
|
No sex scenes, very tightly written. It's still about retribution, but most of the story is told in flashbacks. I think I'll skip the movie...
