I just exercised consumer power! |
|
My credit card company wrote to me telling me they were increasing my rate to 19.9%. It was already too high at 18.9%, although I'd always been too lazy to do anything about it, and I always pay the balances off within a few months anyway so I was never paying them so much.
But this spurred me to action. Fuck you, I thought, my credit history is spotless, so I don't have to put up with this shit. So I called them up to tell them I wanted to cancel my agreement. They dropped the rate to 12%.
I agreed to it, because that's basically what I wanted all along. :)

3. Yes--- flex the power of good credit. |
|
The credit card companies will usually bend to keep low risk customers these days. I've had similar experiences recently.
Consumers have the power to influence their policies -- we just need to use it. :D

anywhere near 19 or 20%. That's ridiculous.
