Classic Rock Songs that have not been adapted to commercials yet
Edited on Wed Oct-05-05 02:10 PM by Dr Fate
How about "Feta, Feta Cheese" to the tune of The Who's "You Better, You Better, You Bet"?

"When you want some cheese you need some FETA (you feta, you feta cheese)-when I need some cheese a SCREAM out FETA (oh-woo-oo)..."

You get the idea.

What Classic songs have not been adapted to commercials yet?

2. Manic Depression
I don't think those two words would help sell the image of anything, but maybe the RNC will use it to ask their supporters for sympathy money when it all falls apart on them and they have no other selling point.

7. slightly serious
Does anyone remember the articles John Densmore wrote about refusing to let Doors songs be used for commercials? The articles were quite good but I don't feel like looking for them now. Those Cadillac commercials with with the Led Zep song were supposed to use a Doors song, hence the tag line: "Break on Through." The only time it really bugs me is when they use songs by a dead person who obviously didn't give his permission, ie, songs written by Joe Strummer to sell things.

8. Per the Doors Movie- "Light my Fire" was used in the 1960's
Remember the scene where Kilmer says "catchy tune" when he sees the car commercial in his dressing room? Then again, Stone does take liberties...

Anyway, good for any artist who does not sell his songs to these cheese-meisters.

10. The story is true, but the commercials were never made
Morrisson (and possibly Densmore) icksnayed the use of "Light My Fire" before the commercials were ever made, but the Doors were approached by GM at one time to use the song.

12. grrrr
Now you've piqued my curiousity but I don't feel like checking to see whether or not Madison Avenue acually exploited the Doors in 1967. My instinct tells me it's unlikely. I could be wrong and would be glad to hear details. Not sure when I'll be checking this thread again though despite my temptation to turn this into an Oliver Stone flamewar. Besides, my favorite show is on TV

19. Yes. That was in Rolling Stone a couple years ago.
He is at loggerheads with Kreiger and Manzarek over the use of the Doors' songs in commercials.

16. Not really a rock song
But there's a rumor that a hemorrhoid cream manufacturer wanted to use Johnny Cash's Ring of Fire in a commercial.

Thankfully his family refused.
