Poll question: Which Star Trek movie is your guilty pleasure?
The movie is generally labeled as being crap but you enjoy it anyway?

I'd love to have multiple choices... but My top pick would be Generations, followed by The Search for Spock.

1. Probably "Star Trek III"
"Star Trek I" and "V" were just crap. Nothing enjoyable about either of them.

And II, IV and VI were genuine pleassures.

3. So 'The Wrath of Khan' was deemed as crap by everyone?
Edited on Wed Oct-05-05 05:28 PM by HypnoToad

Still, some probably WOULD call it crap and enjoy it anyway. :D

Of course, if Trek is a guilty pleasure in general, then I suppose all 10 might apply... :D

6. I voted for First Contact
Edited on Wed Oct-05-05 06:10 PM by LeftyMom
it's pretty good but it has more than it's fair share of campy moments. The most blatant example being "assimilate this!" Jesus Christ, that sounds like a line out of an Arnie movie. It's definitely a very uneven movie and there's real disparity between the really good actors (Stewart, Woodard and Cromwell) and the less impressive ones.

7. I'd vote for that one, except I get no pleasure from it.
Only a stomach ache. It wasn't as bad as Nemesis, but it might as well have been.

I'm with you on the "assimilate this" cliche puke line.

8. I vote for V because I read your poll correctly
Generally considerd the worst of the TOS movies - and it is - I still think it's pretty good, and I love watching it.

So, yes, it's a guilty pleasure. I know I shouldn't like it, but I do.

15. I prefer the craptacular V to any of the Next Generation flicks
It's awful, mind you, but it has good interplay between the trio.

16. Yeah, I'm really surprised at how poorly all the TNG ones were written
I just watched Insurrection last night, which is equally my favorite of the TNG ones (with Generations), and even that is pretty bad.

V had some bad problems with the storyline, but as you say, the ineractions between the three were beautifully done. In fact, I'd say that every scene of the movie is pretty damn good as it stands, but the linkage of them, and the execution of the overall story arch, just doesn't quite work.

The Next Generation movies are just bad. Each had a great idea, but they were so poorly written they are painful.

9. I can't say I've liked any of the crap ones
in other words, I'm in full agreement with the critics

I will, however, vote for the first one, because it was really cool seeing the Enterprise on the big screen for the first time. As well as Spock saying "fuck you guys, I'm going in"

12. I don't consider any of them to be crap. My fave is the whales 1 followed
by all the STNG ones in the order in which they came out.

17. I read your poll wrong.....
I voted for Wrath of Khan, which of course was not crap. Perhaps Insurgence could be classified as crap, yet one which I enjoyed greatly.

19. I own all TOS movies...
#1 is my guilty pleasure.

#5 is the one I never watch.

Sometimes I'll do marathons, 1-4 then 6...

And my son says "You skipped one"... and I say "Yes, I did" and then don't show it anyway.
