Poll question: If you had the option, would you shop exculsively American Made? |
|
I'm talking household goods, clothes, food, etc. (Not cars, because so many of them that are "American Made" are actually made in Mexico, the Philippines, or elsewhere, or their parts are.)
Please give me feedback on this, as my sister is thinking of starting an online shop because it has been so hard for her to find American made baby clothes and toys.
Best,

1. I don't know how this fits into your poll, but... |
|
...I would love to support exclusively local or American manufacaturers IF the quality is high and the prices are reasonable. I don't want to have to buy stuff twice, so I try to get as much for my money as I can.
Good luck to your sister. I think it's a good idea.

2. That's why I went with "if something caught my eye" |
|
Build me something that will last here in the U.S. and I'll pay quite a lot more for it than for some cheap piece of junk that's going to break in a stiff wind...

3. Some USA stuff but not exclusive |
|
Only if it's comperable in price and quality to things made outside the USA.
I say not exclusive b/c I enjoy buying things from other cultures. It's a way for me to travel. So, I'll be honest and say no 100% American made.

afford to buy American made I do it. We once made just about everything in this country and paid living wages with benefits to the people working in those factories. Even the people at the bottom of the ladder made enough to buy houses and maintain a 1-income family.

7. If the Quality were equal. |
|
I would buy, even if it were marginally more expensive.
If the quality superior, even more so.

8. Some foreign companies make better products... |
|
Wines, for example. I'd buy a Japanese or German car (curently own one of each) but I'll never own another American car. I love Italian clothing, but I have a hard time justifying the expense. I only buy Italian sunglasses. My photo equipment is Japanese (Canon) and I have mostly French and Italian scuba equipment (Finnish dive computer). German cutlery (Wusthof).
Actually, come to think of it, most of what I own is made by foreign companies. Aside from wardrobe and consumables (food, cleaning supplies) and housewares (plates, glasses, pots and pans), I guess it's all pretty much foreign.
