George Bush portraits in toddler's classrooms... Arghhh! |
|
Edited on Fri Nov-14-03 11:54 PM by lostnfound
The misery of being a parent looking for good daycare has worsened, at least for a liberal in this wretched state of Texas, by the new Fascist approach.
My search continues; last week I was disturbed that my 2-year old would be standing for the pledge every morning in the nicer of the Montessori schools that I'd found. Hah! Little did I know. Now I find the absolute nicest place to put him -- bright, sunny, spacious, clean, happy -- and what do I see?: Framed portraits of Shrub's smiling face in the classrooms, handy for toddler 'circle time' every day.
Reminds me of the Catholic school portraits of Jesus that I grew up with.
What IS the point of such a picture among 3 year olds?!?!?
I asked whether they had hung portraits of our last President on the walls. A bit of a giggle..'No'..'well, he never sent us any'.
I am really pretty depressed about this.

And also just as Orwellian. How utterly disturbing.

2. Yep, Bush is a fascist. |
|
I still remember the portraits being replaced in the White House cafeteria-all replaced with Bush's likeness.

3. Did bush send them the pictures then? |

He really has the dictorial love of having likenesses of himself all over the place.

Okay, if you've ever seen Thomas and the Magic Railroad (not that many of you have had that "fortune"), you know Diesel 10 is the mean, evil train. One day Shrubboy was on TV and I told my 2 year old it was Diesel 10. It stuck, so now everytime he sees him, he says, Mommy, it's bad Diesel 10."

5. Surely you don't really mean to equate pics of Bush-- |
|
as the same (equally disgusting) as pics of Jesus? I don't think you have to be of any religion at all to appreciate Jesus the man and his teachings....?
Sorry, but while I really, really, really empathize with you over the disgusting portraits of Smarmy Bush, I can't appreciate the comparison.......
I guess that I'm depressed about THAT.

6. Good God NO! I do NOT equate the two.. |

I actually found it IRONIC .. My feelings about religion may be in constant flux, but IMO, Jesus and his teachings are totally worthy of admiration. I found it IRONIC, that someone finds it appropriate to put up pictures of W -- talk about 'false idols'?? It's bizarre.
