Just rewatched Magnolia, fresh from goodbyes to a dear friend with cancer. OMG, what's the use? P.S. I don't know the bible very well, what's the deal with the raining frogs?

She's been my "supervisor" but mostly best friend for eight years. Magnolia is one I've resisted rewatching for a while now because it's so hard on the soul, but good for you, I think.

if nobody drops by the lounge for a while, or is staying in one thread. I was on at that hour but in another forum, never checked the lounge.
I'm sorry for your loss and thank you for recommending "Magnolia." Hope you feel a little better today.

...after that last big hurricane, people in Connecticut were finding their properties slimed by millions of frog eggs that carried in on the winds from somewhere in the tropics.

about your loss. I saw Magnolia when it first came out and don't think it got the recognition it deserved. I think I'll rewatch it. Julian Moore's scene at the pharmacy was one of the most intense of all times. Once again, sorry to hear of your loss:-(

12. If you look closely... |
|
...in the first shot of the studio audience in the "What do Kids Know?" scenes, one of the stage crew is wrestling a sign away from one of the audience. The sign reads "Exodus 8:2"
A few times throughout the movie, 8 and 2 play together:
Julianne Moore pays the pharmacist with 8 $20 bills.
In one scene, there's a close-up of a clock which reads 8:20
John C. Riley's police unit is "8-2"

I just endured (well, really, am still enduring) a major death in the family and some days it just seems like everythings a strange dream. Give yourself a lot of time to grieve and know one day the hurt won't be so strong.

one day. Every loss is different but you always have to give yourself permission to grieve the way that works for you, for as long as it takes.
