What is scat music ?

Hey everyone i am currently researching blues music and I came across a paragraph on scat music. Does anyone know what scat music is or what it sounds like? I tried looking it up on yahoo music but I came up zilch on search results. Thanks in advance Danny.

the same way an instrumentalist will improvise a solo over the chord changes. A vocalist can improvise, but because there are no written out lyrics, they can make up words or syllables as they see fit.
