My daughter just ordered three pay-per-view movies
I had to log off to call Dish to see if they would take them off. She goes in my room to watch TV all of the time. She knows what channels are allowed. She comes out, all excited "Mommy, The Pacifier is coming on!"...I asked what channel, and she tells me 527...Now, when you hit the movie with the remote, it brings up a screen that tells you that you will be charged for the movie, and you have the option to cancel out of it. She confirmed. The guy from Dish told me to go into my order history. I discovered there that she had also ordered Because of Winn Dixie and Pooh's Heffalump Movie. The guy says that normally, PPV charges are not reversible, but he's putting a note in my file. I have to call back when the bill comes.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

1. Parental Lock
You can password protect the PPV movies on Dish. I did to keep my kids from ordering too.

2. Yeah, I get to set that up now
Never had to before, she's stuck to the regular channels. I have a menu entitled "Kids" that they know to run off of. She strayed and has potentially cost me $12.

3. PPV can be as bad as giving a kid a cell phone.
Grrrrrrr, don't get me started on my kid's cell phone. I've put a parental lock on that.

5. They're smarter than you think.
Then they rat themselves out. That was lucky.

6. Yeah, I couldn't believe she came and told me about it
Maybe she thought we'd watch it together and I'd never know it was PPV.

7. Mine's sixteen and thinks I know nothing.
And he still gets caught in his antics. I guess I know just enough.

8. I've told both of my kids that between me and their father
There's nothing they'll be able to get away with. I love the "How did you know that?" response. I just tell them that I am mother, I know everything they do. Mine is only nine, already ordering movies. Ah, they grow up so fast now.
