8. I love these. Pretty creepy. Let's make this
an ongoing Halloween thread.

This time of year is creepy in general. I think the place where I am living right now is haunted. I was bringing in the groceries tonight from the car and I heard the leaves rustling just like someone was walking toward me very fast.

It was that time of day when it's dark enough that you can't see very well, yet car lights are no good either. I almost hit a chihuaha on the way home from the grocery store tonight. It was the tiniest one I have ever seen. Luckily I didn't hit him. Then when I got home, I was bringing the groceries in and something moved off to the right of the deck. It sounded just like someone lunging at me. The leaves moved just like someone was walking through them very fast. It's so hard to see back there behind the trailer, so I haven't a clue what it was.

There is nothing but woods back there along with the remains of a burnt house from the early 1900's. There is long history behind this village where I live. A fire not far from where I live burned the Roberdel Mill down back in the 30's or 40's. The lot where the house burned down is right between my trailer and the pond. Right across from the pond from that lot is the mill that burned down. I smell smoke this time of year a lot. My aunt, who grew up here too, says it's from the fireplaces. Most of the houses around here are older and still have working fireplaces in them, but they are fire prone.

I'm staying in a trailer that starts creaking constantly this time of year and sounds like footsteps. I'm thinking of recording it when it starts up again. It goes away in the spring and summer. It's very creepy. It sounds just like something is slowly walking across the roof of the trailer. I've gone outside and looked hundreds of times, but there is nothing on the roof.

I love this time of year though. Getting as close as possible to anything spooky is my favorite hobby. I could stay in the most haunted mansion assuming I could bring extra blankets to keep warm. That's the only thing about haunted places. They are always so cold, it seems.
