Attention fans of the TV show "Lost" |
|
I've been checking out the backstory of the show online at the official websites and at wikipedia. It seems interesting, but I never watch TV shows like that because I'm afraid of liking them too much and then having my schedule disrupted. I have a few questions:
1) Is it good?
2) Is it scary?
I've just had my curiosity piqued and I was hoping to get some feedback from you trustworthy and sane DU folks. Official fan sites are often loaded with bunk, I think.

1. It is one of, if not THE, best shows on TV right now in my opinion... |
|
It's not scary, but it is really mysterious.
Occasionally creepy, occasionally intense, occasionally funny.
DEFINITELY worth checking out.

3. Creepy + intense = scary. |
|
Now I'm a little creeped. I can't even look at some of the official website content because I anticipate being scared out of my mind.

4. It's not creepy and intense simulataneously... |
|
Sometimes it'll be creepy, sometimes it'll be intense, but I've never found it to be scary.

2. its tremendously written, character driven, intriguing and vexing, |
|
keep you wondering, strongly acted by sympathetic characters and probably the best show on commercial tv right now. Go get the first year dvd's and catch up.

It is both exceedingly well written and well acted. There aren't many other shows that would have central characters named after famous philosophers or that would employ subtitles when crash survivors speak in their native Korean. I don't really think the show is that scary. The frights are more psychological than anything else and help to propel the mystery of the show. We are slowly learning the backstories of the characters through flashbacks, so there is the mystery of the island and the mystery of the characters' motivations. The opening scenes of the series were, in my opinion, movie quality. I was sucked in from the start. If you give it a chance, you'll probably like it.
