I went to buy some loose black tea today. Not at Trader Joe's. Not at Kroger's. Not at Safeway.

2. Locking
No sex threads.

Whole Foods has a decent selection, if you have a WF around you.

3. Call health food or 'whole food' stores in your area
Some sell teas and herbs in bulk and they often have loose teas in many varieties and herbals too. I used to love the health food stores in Tucson when I lived there. Easy to get the stuff, once you get outta the chain supermarkets. ;)

4. I highly recommend Upton Tea
You can find them at http://www.uptontea.com. They have a selection of literally hundreds of different loose teas - some of them organic - often at prices less than you'd pay for a tin of crappy-tasting Twinnings. They've been my sole tea supplier for more than a decade now, and I've been invariably pleased with their products and service.

I don't blame you for not wanting to use teabags; only the lowest grades of tea are used in them.

8. Of course I do!
I only drink Redbush rea nowadays, and I've never seen that loose. But from teabags it still makes a sterling cuppa.

7. Try your local Asian grocer
We have a local Asian supermarket that has a whole aisle of tea, and I'm pretty sure most of it is loose.

9. My loose tea theory
Edited on Sun Oct-09-05 08:49 AM by ashling
Loose tea is , by definition,"loose." Spill it and it gets all over the place. It gets into the cracks in the floor, where it is hard to find.

However, according to the Loose Tea Theory of physics, the universe is actually made up of loose tea, as opposed to strings. So you should be able to take comfort in this.

on edit: So Loose tea is everywhere. . . sort of like when you spill it.

Some intelligent design theorists accept this theory, They realize that the designer was British as it would have been impossible to find an intelligent one over here.

13. I can never find decaf green tea loose anywhere
especially organic :(

I drink a pot of it almost every night (thus the need for decaf). So I buy 40 packs of the bagged kind. What a pain in the ass!

My poor tea ball is so lonely!

14. Finding exactly what we want can be a real pain at times.
I'll be sending your pictures by snail mail on Tuesday. I'm sorry for the delay buy I haven't gone anywhere since I've been home.

The totally great news is that I won't have any scars left from two weeks ago. :)
