I'm so upset, I can't even talk. My brother's friend was killed in Iraq.
He wasn't even over there for two weeks. My brother and his girlfriend just had dinner with him a couple of weeks ago, before he deployed.

He was injured when his deuce-and-a-half struck a mine, and he didn't survive the trip to the hospital.

I can't even speak.

6. Thank you. I never even met him, actually. I'm upset because my
brother is in pain, and because another life was needlessly snuffed out. When all is said and done, all he'll be remembered for by the people of this country is that he was #400. That's all the notice he will rate, I'm afraid. And of course, his death is just a sign that the Iraqi resistance is "getting desperate".

I just get more and more angry. :grr:

So very sorry about your loss, Aristus. Try to be strong for your brother.

edit: I read it wrong, I thought it was your friend's brother, not the other way round. :(

11. I am so incredibly sorry

I came to my computer already in tears, because MSNBC was reporting the numbers killed and wounded in this morning's helicopter downings. It just hit me so hard that so many more families have their lives and hopes and dreams crushed day after day.

I can't tell you how sad I am for all of you who are experiencing this unbelievable loss. I have a 19-year-old daughter and a 22-year-old son, and I just can't imagine being able to withstand the pain of losing one of them.

My very best wishes to all of you.

Katy

jeez, isn't there some way I can remove my cheery little signature graphic from just this post? It seems so terribly inappropriate.

your post took me back to sixth grade in Madison, Wisconsin, remembering a classmate crying because her brother had been killed in Viet Nam. It's viscious.

29. Thanks, GOP, old buddy. This was a different guy.
The guy I wrote about a while back hasn't deployed yet. I hope he will be okay. The one who got killed was a guy my brother knew for about two years. My brother's other friend is a guy I used to room with, and whom my brother has known for twelve or thirteen years. This really brings it home for me. This is like things I've read about Vietnam; a family would see a friend off to Southeast Asia, and then hear about his death a few weeks or months later.

How the hell did this happen? Don't we EVER learn anything?

36. I'm crying right now. I didn't even KNOW him. That's the sad part.
Now I never will. He was important to my brother, so he was important to me as well.

I'm cleaning up and doing housework. Every once in a while, I just break down and cry for a few minutes. Thank you for being there for me and my brother right now. I can't even imagine my brother's pain.

37. I am sorry for your and your brother's loss, Aristus.
Tragic enough to lose someone in a war, but how much worse when the war is a lie for for nothing besides the enrichment of some Imperial Cronies and the Right of the Emperor to destroy the Constituion and Bill of Rights.
