Does anyone have experience with memory foam mattresses?
After using the pillow my wife and I are considering purchasing a full mattress. I am a side sleeper and she is a stomach sleeper.

We were wondering what your experiences are. Do you really sleep better on a memory foam mattress? What density do you prefer? How long have you had your mattress? A you a side sleeper or a stomach sleeper like my wife and how this relates to the density of mattress you prefer. Is your mattress hotter than conventional mattresses in the summer? Was your mattress hard to adjust to?

Here is a link to the site I am looking at: http://www.foamdistributing.com/products/memoryfoam5m.html

$402 for a queen size memory mattress is the best deal I have been able to find.

Thank you very much,

Scuba

3. Ours doesn't seem to work as well as promised
We have had our mattress for almost 2 years. I think that part of the problem is that we were embarassed to ask the sales person perhaps an important question that I am not sure that they would even know the answer to. If we become better off financially and had more room, perhaps we would would have two different beds, one for sleep and one for other activities.
$402 for a queen size is a good deal though.

like reading for instance (wink wink nudge nudge) you prefer a more traditional mattress!

4. I don't have a full mattress
But I use a memory foam mattress cover. It actually made my dorm room mattress comfortable.

9. I have a memory foam topper.
Tried the mattress at the store. Lay on it for awhile. If you lay to long, you can't roll over. I'm not sure it would be comfortable in the long run. Wherever you buy your mattress be sure to get a 60 or 90 sleep guarantee.

10. We love ours!!!!!
We got a Tempurpedic about 5+ years ago (before my job was outsourced). It was pricey but worth every penny! Our chiropractor told us that the Tempurpedic mattresses were the only onces dense enough that they didn't fall apart in a few years. This may no longer apply; I don't know the technology that well....

I won't ever leave my pillow behind though! The pillow alone is fabulous!

We pretty much cover the gamut of sleeping positions and there's no problems there. There's very little bounce transmission: I can jump up and down on one side and the other side won't really feel much of the vibrations.

The pillow does get a little warm sometimes, but only during the hot summer nights (we live in Arizona, so it's a bit extreme).

I adjusted in no time, but I can fall asleep most anywhere in a matter of seconds, so your mileage may vary.

Hope this helped!

11. A friend of mine at work just got a Tempurpedic
last week. So far, she and her husband love it. She said the same thing about one person being able to move around and the other one not even feel it.

12. Thank you very much for your comments everyone.
I just checked out our mattress. It is sound, only 3 years old and of high quality. Therefore we have decided to go with a mattress topper.

We're debating whether to get a 3 or 4 inch topper. Foamex International makes very high quality memory foam under the brand name Sensus. They are an American company going through chapter 11 reorganization so perhaps purchasing a mattress topper made by them will help some of our countrymen get by in this Bush economy....

Thanks again,

Scuba
