OMG. It stinks in here.
I just turned my heat on for the first time and wow it smells. I hate the first time the heat comes on. That burning smell is horrendous. It's nice and warm though. :D

Ya'll didn't really think I meant the Lounge, did ya? The Lounge Rules!

1. Yeah, there is nothing like that "first firing" of the furnace smell
So far we have been able to hold out.

I like to make it past October 15th before I fire mine up.

3. Any certain reason why that date.
Just curious.

My aunt slipped and broke a rib plus it has been overcast for days now. She's hurting and calling for it. I was going to turn off the a/c and let the temp stabalize wherever, but she's cold and achy. I think we aren't going to the VA in the morning after all. She's talking about canceling the appt. I wish she hadn't slipped. I alwasy freak, but she always says a broken rib isn't something they can fix anyhow. She once broke a rib sneezing. Man, I feel for her. Even my scars hurt from this overcast chilly evening, nevermind having to deal with broken bones and arthritis as bad as she has it.

4. Mostly stubbornness
We have the furnace on up here for practically 6 months out of the year, so the later we can get away without it the better.

9. I think my Wisconsin standard was Halloween
but I am so far south now I should be able to make Cursegiving. I will probably cheat with a space heater, candles, and extra baking.

2. It's that awful burnt dust vent smell
Open your windows for an hour or two and put on a sweatshirt. Your lungs will thank you.

5. We have hot water heating
but even so there is a kind of "warm" smell that emanates from the vents.

7. I can imagine.
This trailer had been empty (of humans, not rodents and insects) for about 2 or 3 years. We saw the scurry of some sort of rodent while we were moving the fridge inside the day before we moved in. My bathroom cabinets smelled like rat urine for a while. The one in the kitchen did too, but I was able to get rid of it by constant cleaning and spraying. The bathroom cabinets are that awful pressed wood stuff. The smell hasn't totally left yet. On rainy days, I still get a whiff every now and again. I've tried everything to get rid of that smell.

10. Plus heaven help me if my bathroom faucets
ever spring a leak. That stuff turns into powdered mush if it gets wet.
