1. Corporate crap has slowed it down to a crawl
The more endorsement shit, the slower the game. They are losing fans. It makes the game boring.

2. Totally agree
The title of this thread was actually uttered by Tim McCarver during the game tonight.

3. Dunno, you mean the drugs?
I used to totally get into baseball until baseball players started looking like football players. I know a lot of people don't see a difference in their athletic shape as much as I do, but there is one. I used to actually keep a running score chart on the Braves (because I could watch them daily) that I drew myself. I kind of miss baseball, the good old days when baseball players were baseball players.

5. I think what McCarver was talking about
was speed on the basepaths (as in stealing bases).

I too miss the pre steroid days.

8. Well, yeah, the time it takes for the pitcher and the baserunner
to do their little thing keeps the pitcher from pitching to the batter and wear his arm out sooner, imo, to some degree. I did always love it when runners would steal bases out of the blue. I hated it when they would keep trying with the pitcher totally aware. I liked it when all of a sudden, it seemed, they stole a base. I always loved it when someone would hit a homerun. I always could tell when it was going to be a homer, but could never tell when it was going to be foul ahead of time.

4. Hi KitchenWitch!
:hi:

For the record, I have no opinion on whether speed has really slowed the game of baseball down. :)

7. It may be so, but to compensate
the Australians have made it faster, and more interesting.
