OK. I have the flu. And I just flew cross country. |
|
I flew to Portland from Baltimore (with a layover in Phoenix) last Wednesday. On the first leg of the journey, there was a guy who sounded like that coughing and wheezing monkey-bite guy in the beginning of "Outbreak."
I just flew home from Seattle (the rental car probably has my flu germs, too), and I stopped in Chicago for an hour.
I didn't notice any symptoms until the last leg of the flight home.
How many people could I have infected?

3. Times like this, I wish I'd never read |
|
The Stand. I read it about 15 years ago, as a teenager. While I reading it, anybody who sneezed made me jump a foot, and in my mind the words "Captain Tripps" would scream. Then, I would tell myself "it's only a book". Now, I guess the words are "Avian Flu". I hate flu season!

It kind of made me not laugh when I started seeing news stories of Chinese and Japanese people wearing surgical masks in pubic places.

6. Yeah, SARS was interesting for sure |
|
I was working at a hospital when SARS appeared. It was a long term acute care facility, and our patients were not usually in the best of shape. I wasn't bothered until one of our patients was an elderly oriental lady with respiratory issues. I worked in medical records, and had to go to her room to get some papers signed. At the time, there were no precautions posted. A day later, to go into her room, you had to wear gowns and gloves and masks...infection control. I was just slightly freaked.
