Yoko's new blast at Macca (that's what they call Paul McCartney)
Edited on Tue Oct-11-05 11:53 AM by LoZoccolo
Yoko, 72, suggested that Lennon was a far better singer than his fellow Beatle, and went on to pour scorn on McCartney's lyrics.

There were gasps of astonishment at yesterday's Q Magazine Awards in London as she took to the stage and went on the attack.

As far as I've heard, and I've heard a lot, there is no feud between the Gallagher brothers ever, and their significant others are not involved in causing sorts of dramas in front of other rock legends about these nonexistant feuds. Liam and Noel do not work from a position of insecurity, and thus don't need any assurance about who's songs are being covered more often.

Score one for Oasis.

1. Also...
Oasis won two trophies while Yoko Ono only got one, so score another one for Oasis. They might deserve another half-point for getting regular awards rather than this "special" one they gave to John Lennon, but there is no half-points and Oasis is so far ahead anyways they don't even need it.

46. Yes.
They were more popular than Terence Trent D'Arby, who was more popular than the Beatles in the 80s.

7. You could consider Yoko a part of the entourage.
Imagine the Beatles are all out clubbing. Who is in the VIP room with them? That's right, Yoko.

10. I still don't see how this "scores one for Oasis"
Some of the best music comes from people working together who really don't like each other at all.

11. They do not get insecure about writing it.
Neither Liam nor Noel has written with the idea that they are in competition with each other.

no reason to have a feud.

19. Yoko actually was a conceptual artist
long before it was as common as it is now. Yoko's punkish musical style(although unpopular) was ahead of it's time as well.

And sorry to say, LZ, I suspect that The Beatles will long be remembered after Oasis is considered just to be a spring in the desert.

But I love both of them. Without Paul, there would be no Beatles and the same goes for John. There would have been a Beatles w/o Yoko, so she needs to get over it. Jeez. Move on. Find another band to break up!

5. There's no feud between John and Paul
(Tough to carry on a feud when one is dead) And they weren't brothers. Yoko's a nutcase. Now if your argument was that one of the fellows of Oasis did not marry a nutcase and that makes them superior to the Beatles, you might have a case (might) but your present argument does not hold water.

17. He commited the atrocity known as "give peace a chance."
He was pretty handy at writing dirgelike chants and nursery rhymes. The talentless Gallagher brothers actually did a fantastic job emulating John's penchant for writing banal but pretentious lyrics. He had a gift for saying things that sound deep, that give the appearances of intellectuality, but are really rather stupid.

After 30 years of intensive psychotherapy, and permanent burns on my retinas, I still haven't recovered from that.

Not to mention how horrible the album ITSELF is.

I learned how to fire a 12-gauge shotgun by blasting that record to tiny little bits.

Oh, john, let's hope for peace.

John, oh, john,
Let's hope for peace,
Let's hope for peace,
Let's hope for peace,
Peace, peace, peace.

Oh, john, oh, john, john, john,

Oh, john,
John,
Oh, oh, john, john, john,
John, john, john, john, john, john,
John, john, john, john, john, john, john,
Let's hope, hope, hope, hope, hope, hope, hope for peace.

Peace -

John.

As for Oasis, I'd rather hear Yoko than those Beatle wannabees...:puke:

No, I'm a DLC operative assigned to apply psyops to DU and a few other "progressive" message boards. The most fallow period for us is the 13th month before an election, so I've got a lot of time to goof off, but it's pretty much the calm before the storm because come November we'll start rolling out the one-year plan.

39. the impact and importance of that bad is hard to explain to someone
who wasn't there. I don't know if you remember boy singers in silver and gold lame jumpsuits and pompadours singing swing and pop songs. They are something that changed the world and all the outriders that don't matter- kids, wives, etc- can take a hike.

Yoko needs to get over it. She only heaps bad feeling on everything and reminds people of that nasty break up that she is blamed for, for real or no. As for Paul ... sigh. I will always have my memories.

43. Trying to steal the spotlight once again....
I won't say she "broke up the Beatles." Other signs indicated that the group could not continue to exist as it was.

But this latest stunt reminds me of what I'd long suspected. She kept the enmity between John & Paul alive so they would never collaborate again. Whisking him away to the USA, always reminding him that Paul was his inferior. Former members of other defunct groups have had solo careers but still gotten together for the occasional project. John & Paul benefited from each other's influence; the harsh anger of one balanced the sweetness of the other.

Yeah, yeah, she was a pioneer of Conceptual/Performance Art. But I'm really tired of her "World's Oldest Groupie" act.

48. Does anyone remember the National Lampoon...
And its skewering of Lennon on the first NatLamp album?

"Magical Misery Tour." Most of the lyrics were Lennon's actual words, taken from a PLAYBOY interview. This was when Lennon was on his "Working Class Hero/Primal Scream" kick.

I couldn't find the lyrics online, so this is from memory. Corrections welcome:

I resent performing for you f!ckers, tell me what do you know?
A bunch of middle-class kids wearing trendy clothes and long hair.
Look, I'm not your f!cking parents and I'm sick of uptight hippies,
Coming knocking at me door with a f!cking peace symbol,
Get this, f!ck that, I don't owe you f!ckers anything and all I got to say is "F!ck you!"
The sky is blue...

And Mick Jagger, I think that Mick's a joke y'know I always did
Wiggling his ass, you know it's just a lot of bullshit
And every f!cking thing we ever did Mick tried to copy
We even wrote his second f!cking record for him
No the Stones aren't in the same f!cking class as The Beatles
Neither music-wise nor power-wise and never ever was
Pardon me, sir...

Paul said he hated Yoko, tell me why should Yoko have to take that kind of sh!t?
Sh!t from those f!cking sonsab!tches
George said she gave The Beatles bad vibes,
I shoulda beat the f!cking shit right out of him
Him with his f!cking Hare Krishna

And me Auntie she tore up me f!cking poems, she just threw the bastards out,
I can't forgive cause she didn't treat me like a f!cking genius!
Well f!ck you bastards! I'm a genius, like Shakespeare and Beethoven and van Gogh!
I throw up before I go onstage! I can make a guitar SPEAK!
If I could be a fisherman I would but I can't because I'm a f!cking genius!

Yoko is a supreme intellectual! I'll tell you why no one likes her music--because she's a woman and she's Oriental, that's why!
"Oh Yoko" was the greatest f!cking rock-and-roll song ever made!

I was the Walrus! Paul wasn't the Walrus! I was only saying that to be nice, but I was actually the Walrus!

Where are you Mother? They're trying to crucify me!

Genius is pain....genius is pain....genius is pain...OH! ARGH! (primal screams)

The Dream is over.
