Yes, there really was a General Sani Abacha

Everyone here has heard the name of General Sani Abacha. It seems like every 419 scammer worked for this fucker at one time. But was General Abacha as phony as the e-mails referencing him, or did he really exist?

The answer is yes, he existed. General Abacha (1943-1998), who has been described as a "military strongman" and a "despot" also returned Sierra Leone to civilian rule and promised to return Nigeria to civilian rule in 1998.

I always thought he was a despot -I can recollect the outcry over the executation of Ken Saro-Wiwa and the subsequent fallout at the 1995 CHOGM Summit in New Zealand I didn't know about his role in Sierra Leone though
