Look at this pretty girl that we might adopt Saturday.
I have a male weimy who needs an outside playmate. Well, here's the gal that's up for adoption on Saturday at a shelter nearby:

She was found as a stray, and her owner has five days to reclaim. If she tests heartworm negative and if her owner doesn't reclaim, we will adopt her.

I hope that her present family reclaims her. Weimies have a habit of wandering away from home...they are inquisitive, smart animals that need love and attention constantly, or they roam.

Well, if her present family doesn't want her back, we will become her family.

I think she looks like a Benadette. What do you think?

8. Yes, and I am taking a dog toy for her tomorrow, regardless.
My schnauzer Lucinda has a pink doggy bear that she doesn't play with, so I will take it to the weimy, and at least she'll have a tangible promise that someone loves her and she will have a home.

3. I like Benadette.
And we can call her Benni. It's a beautiful name that I became acquainted with last week--actually, it's a DUers name.

Isn't she a beaut?

5. She is a very cute dog. As for heartworm, it can be treated
successfully in dogs. My friend has found a stray dog with lots of heartworms, but it was all treated and the dog is now fine.

10. I would do the treatments, but the shelter won't adopt out animals...
with heartworms. I don't understand their policy, but that's their policy.

So please say a prayer, send good thoughts, that the girl doesn't have heartworms.

15. I don't understand this. It's a treatable condition.
With cats, there is no treatment, but with dogs, it can be treated. That stray dog had so many of them, but he made it and is now fine. I hope this girl doesn't have it, since the shelter is not being reasonable about it.

14. Hopefully, her family that lost her will reclaim her.
She does look like she's used to human companionship and misses her family.

But, if her family doesn't reclaim her by Saturday, we'll give her a home. :)

Are they near hairless? Years ago, I had a hairless rat terrier, and we had to keep him out of the sun. He would get pink. :D

but when (if) it does grow back. it's very short and wavy and feels like cashmere. they don't shed, i'll tell you that. and i have no allergy to them either. and they have friendly active personalities like dogs. :) . very lovable.

18. I Don't Know What To Hope For...
... I'm sure the original owners would be THRILLED to find their pup again, and that's always a good thing to hope for. But if they don't show up, I wish you all luck and I hope she makes a good addition to your family.

Love, Allen

19. Yes, that's my wish, too.
Sadly, many people abandon Weimies because they are hyper and they love to chew stuff. My weimy chewed the door frame off of our front door! But if you're patient, by the time the reach 2, they settle in.

I hope that isn't the case with this dog, but, if it is, she'll have a family that understands the breed and will be willing to let her chew and be hyper for awhile. :D

34. I do, too.
After I contacted the shelter yesterday, another man came in and filled out adoption papers. However, he's not "sure" that he wants to adopt her, and he needs to talk to his wife first.

So I talked to the shelter manager today, and she begged me to please go ahead and fill out papers. She said that many times, people who fill out papers don't come back, because they realize that they can't handle a large dog.

So she's faxing me the papers today and I'm going to fill them out.

Say a prayer that we will be the family to bring the pretty girl home.

Where's the emoticon for "fingers crossed."

:hi:

30. We had one - as you know, they really need room to run
we probably should have had 1) more room for ours and 2) a playmate for her.

She looks like a beauty - a real Grey Ghost!

have a creek on the property. My dog Bisbee loves romping on the property.

Yes, they need lots of room and a companion. We love our guy, but he prefers to be outside. So he needs a playmate.

Here's my guy:
