Firefox users: I have a question.
I am having a problem copying and pasting (right click, copy, etc) in Firefox. This just started today, and I haven't made any changes in preferences that I know of. How can I get copy and paste to work again?

1. It's a bug
Firefox is far from perfect. You have to restart it.

3. You may have to restart your computer, or uninstall and reinstall
here's a forum
http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewforum.php?f=38&sid=587a0a620e6659e7f3df515c74f15993

You might find a fix there or if you don't find this issue addressed, ask in the forum there.

4. Thanks.
There's a thread in there with a lot of people having this problem in the last couple days. I would post the link, but of course I can't copy and paste. Thanks, I'll read the thread and hopefully I'll find an answer.

with copy and paste, two people said they downloaded and installed the latest microsoft updates and it started working again (grrrrr I hate microsoft). I just did it and now I have to restart my computer. When I do, I'll let you know if it worked.

8. Well I have SP1
I think people that it's happening to have SP2.

Some people got rid of the problem by finding spyware ("Hi,
I think the problem is not in Firefox but in spyware applications. My problems started after instaling Real One player and it installed some spyware apps. So today I tried MS AntiSpyware and it found and removed two spyware progs. Now copy/paste in Firefox 1.0.7 works fine.")

Others uninstalled and reinstalled and it DID NOT WORK What they did do was download the Firefox 1.5 Beta 2 and THAT worked.

It's not a profile problem either.

Bummer. Have you installed or updated any programs lately?

9. nope.
other than the stupid microsoft ones I did a few minutes ago. Someone on there said something like "if you guys are comfortable with beta". Is beta difficult to use? Do you know if I will lose my bookmarks if I change to the beta version? This is really killing me.

11. The Beta isn't much different.
One problem is that some Extensions will fail to work. Your Bookmarks should be OK. But, you should always back-up your profile before changing versions. Firefox tends to destroy profiles. And you should always back these things up. And by backing up I mean to just copy the profiles folder to the Desktop. Burning it to a CD would be a good idea too.

For instructions on this see:

12. You can save your bookmarks on disk or in a folder
Go to Bookmarks>Bookmarks Manager>File>Export. I save mine in My Documents,

i doubt they'll be lost though. It's good to back them up now and again in case you're hit with the 'totally erased bookmarks bug' like I was a month or so ago.

Here's a link about the beta version
http://www.mozilla.org/projects/firefox/

I used the previous beta version and it was fine-it was what we use now, basically.

I would download the installer for the beta version (save to disk-it'll be on your desktop). Then close down everything and uninstall your firefox browser. Then open your beta installer and that will install your new version.

18. Sort of.
Mostly, it looks the same as the regular version. I'm trying to get into the extensions to see if I can find the same skin thingy I was using. I really liked that.
