3. The operation came first, remember. |
|
That was a pretty pricy and painful screw, I am sure.

6. He might not have known if it came out the other end. |

Then, we wouldn't have heard the wonderful story.
Yes, it is yucky.

picking stitches out of my gut now and again from surgery 30 years ago.
I'll say in the surgeons' defense that it wasn't like they had time to get fancy; I blew out a renal-vein aneurism while driving to the hospital (in an MGB) to get X-rays (and wasn't that fun when they pulled me out of the car...good thing I had the top down). They had to kind of hurry to shut it off and get the replacement Dacron tubing in place, so I can't blame them for the odd extra suture that works its way to the surface this long afterward.

9. I don't mind serious responses. |

That is just some crazy stuff. I have screws and a plate in my wrist, so if I was to cough one of those up, I would be pretty concerned.

...knew this doctor...I think it was a relative of his...anyways, this doctor had a patient who was in his sixties or something and started having this persistant sore throat, so the doctor took an x-ray and saw that there was this nail in his throat! It had been covered over with scar tissue but I guess started bothering the guy. So they surgically removed it and the guy turned out fine, but didn't remember until after the surgery that there was this incident when he was like thirteen or something when he was shooting nails out of some kind of a gun (a nail gun maybe?) and it backfired or ricocheted or something and he started bleeding but he didn't know where he got hit or if he did or whatever, and he wasn't supposed to be playing with the gun to begin with so he never told his parents. Isn't that messed up?

I saw one of those Discovery Health shows Stories of Survival, or something like that. On the show, there was this guy whose head was impaled by a piece of rebar that kicked up off the road and went through his winshield.
He survived. Amazing stuff.
