I've been out of the News loop for, apparently, a while now. I HAD NO IDEA THAT MIERS ISN'T EVEN A JUDGE. She owns a private firm, not even a public defender. This makes me sooooo angry!!! I'm also really angry with myself for not knowing this before today, I feel so ignorant and uninformed (my fault).

and if congress allows this then they have no respect for the institution whatsoever.
I learned from Groklaw (www.groklaw.net) that even the biggest hot-shot lawyers find, upon being nominated to the bench, that they are quite unprepared for actually having to make decisions. Even if they are appointed to traffic court.
To be nominated to the highest court with no judicial experience whatsoever beggars belief.
