1. No Anderson Cooper?
Keith Olberman? And I'd say Jon Stewart does more work than say... Brit Hume.

2. Anderson isn't really an anchor
He's basically an in-the-closet guy who gets blown around a lot (no pun). Great reporter, but not really an anchor.

5. Uhhh...He anchors his own show
I like him. He's a bit of a throwback - he takes every opportunity he can get to get into the field, especially overseas.

7. I guess I'm thinking of...
sitting at a desk. I think Anderson's great don't get me wrong.

8. Not all anchors sit at desks
We have news shows in Canada that are anchored standing up. It's a style thing.

3. Shep Smith
not endorsing him or anything - but I have a longish run semi-crush on him (mainly because of his inability to read a teleprompter).

4. How about his fake falling-down actt during Rita?
Now that was embarrassing.

6. It's funny how the incredibly odious Shepard Smith became briefly human
During the Katrina aftermath. I actually saw a human being inside him when he got into it with Hannity on the air. It was one of the most unexpected things I've ever seen.

I'm sure he's back to his usual self by now, driving his car over people who won't get out of the way.

12. Oh, man! You missed it?!? It was on Crooks and Liars!
God, it was so amazing. Smith was in NO, doing a live 'cast. He wanted to know why the people in the Superdome couldn't walk out of the city. He pointed and said there was a clear road just off camera, they could all walk out of the city, but the authorities wouldn't let them! He was quite shook up about it and wanted to know why this was the case. He was near tears.

Hannity interrupted to try to spin the situation, something about "putting things in perspective," and Smith wouldn't have it. He yelled at Hannity, "THIS is perspective." He cut him off at the knees.

I'll see if I can find the video link.

9. Some good choices. I went with Aaron Brown.
Command of language, fluidity of context.

20. how is KO not on that list?
and I would even argue that Jon Stewart should... I know it's "Fake" (more real than Fox!) but he's certainly becom(e)(ing) mainstream... if Jon was on it he gets my vote... but to be faithful to the question, it's gotta be KEITH!

Well, OK. Maybe I'm not really being objective here.
