As a Minnesotan, sometimes our politics are a bit on the schizoid side. Back in 1998, the people in my fine state opted to elect Jesse "The Body, no The Mind, no The Body" Ventura for governor. His term seemed to last an eternity. I did not think we could have elected a worse governor. I was wrong.

In 2002, the state elected Tim "the Tool" Pawlenty, a self proclaimed evangelical rethug. Who proceeded to vow to not raise taxes. OKAY, no new taxes, but a hell of a lot of new "fees", and since state aid was cut to all the communities, all sorts of property tax referenda were proposed, and many passed. So no new state taxes = much higher property taxes.

He also proposed the death penalty after the young college coed was murdered by a sex offender that he had helped release.
