FGKP - Friday Gratuitous Kitty Post!
I'll go first, you join in!

Meet my new foster kitty, Heath! I pick him up today after work!!! :loveya:

I am the Sphinx. Worship me!

Sphinx does not like dogs! OR Taco Bell!

1. I don't have a picture but the kitty
vindicated me this morning. My SO has moved into my very little house, and brought his kitty along (The SO got here last week, but the kitty has been with me for a month since it was a cross country move and we tried to eliminate the drive stress)

The kitty is now quite fond of me, and during this mornings power struggle over leaving the toilet seat up, the cat just walked over to his daddy and peed on his foot.

Karma, just freaking Karma

Get a Cat Fancy magazine ... or go to the website. They list all the breeders that have kittens. That's how we found Satchmo and Sabrina.

The gang ... it's a repeat.

Sabrina, his mother, is 8 pounds. She's a lot smaller than he is. He could stand to put on another 1/2 pound or so. He looks a lot smaller than he is -- he's very long and lanky.

11. That's his new "thing"
The AC unit blows on that fake plant and makes the leaves move. He loves to jump in there and wrestle with it!:-)

Heath really needs to get out of the shelter and into a home. His mom was adopted, and his own adoption fell through, so he is lonely. Hopefully someone will snap him up soon! :loveya:

16. Leo (aka Sphinx) is about 2.5 months old.
Jennings is 5 months old now. The baby Heath is about 8 weeks old. His bio says 10 weeks, but he's so tiny that I don't believe it! They found him and his mom when he was teeny-tiny, so I think they may be overestimating his age.

35. Leo had a growth spurt last week!
I swear he went from toddler to child in one night! I knew it was coming because first his legs grew, and he looked really lanky for a week, and now his body has caught up!LOL

The pic of Heath is almost 2 weeks old and they change so fast at this age, so he may look quite different when I pick him up! I'm excited about having another baby in the house!!! :loveya:

23. Friends of mine tried the leash bit
First the cat simply collapsed as if in severe pain. They decided the harness was too small. Sot they got a bigger one. The cat collapsed again. So they got a bigger one. Then the cat walked out of it. So they gave up.

(The cat was an Abyssinian, by the way.)

Is there anything special you need to do to make sure it's safe for them, or are they just more immune to food poisoning than humans?

43. You mean salmonella?
Cat's have a shorter digestive tract than humans, so they're not susceptible to salmonella poisoning. You can't leave the food out for days or anything like that. We keep it frozen and thaw a day's worth in the refrigerator. It saved our Abys' lives, so I'm one of those insufferable converts. My daughter started her kittens on raw from the time they came home.

49. Yes.
Start with www.catinfo.org. She has a lot of info there and she's very knowledgeable. I read every page of her website. I use a modified version of her recipe, just the meat & bones, taurine, B Complex, and water. My vet has some good articles on www.therightremedy.com, but I don't use his recipe. My Abys can't tolerate any veggies. I like his pet health articles.

57. We think she's Norwegian Forest cat.
She's very small (8 pounds), way too small for Maine Coon. She's more fur than cat. She matches the Norwegian Forest cat in the book and the CFA's breed profile. That makes it official. :) She's a very sweet kitty.

Yogi in his pirate fort. I've told him a thousand times to leave my pile of crossword puzzles alone, but he insists on making a fort out of them. He plays pirate and howls like a mad cat.

63. My 6 cats and a homeless one I feed
Edited on Fri Oct-14-05 04:30 PM by superconnected

Mischief - 8mo old, lives up to her name.

Sasha - 8mo old, her name rhymes with squash-a. She's a jewel thief.

Nilla (Vanilla) - 8mo old. - currently battling Mismatch to be in charge. He steals small electronic devices.

Rora (Aurora) mom of the 3 kittens - approx 2, pic taken after she got fixed hence her tummy is shaved. I took her in when she was homeless and pregnant last Christmas.

Mismatch - 18 yo, I bought her for 1 dollar, when I was 21, in a parking lot when I was on a date with a guy and he stopped at the store. Boy did he get pissed that I bought her and put her in his car. Never saw him again. She was a very young kitten.

Blacky - 8 mo old- showed up a month ago. I don't know where he came from but he needed a home. He is the size of my other 8mo's.

Crybaby - crying homeless cat ouside my door that I feed. he's still very under weight and still needs a home. My cats chase him out of mine. He's too frail minded

to fight them like blacky did so he could stay. He wont come in now because of my cats. This cat is in Everett WA - 23 mi north of seattle. He lives in a parking lot. I can count on him coming for food twice a day and can pick him up and catch him easily. He crys a lot. I think its because he's upset about being homeless.

75. Wow. They're identical.
I find it hard to believe.

This was Cicero. He died around 1982 at 19 years old. The best cat to ever live. A total personality.

76. The "A" (Atlas) was 9..and was a slam dunk cat.
We have had many cats since ATlas, but he was a very special kitty.

Lewis and Zilla are actually not identical, but they are brothers.

Clark is also their brother.

77. Oh, I was actually refering to my picture and Atlas.
It's too much.

Cats and personalities of cats. A whole world apart from ours. It's just me and my two cats. We live together like a family. We don't need to talk.

78. your kitty does resemble Atlas a great deal. I LOVE black & grey

tabbies.

I also love Tuxedo cats, Siamese mixes, black kitties and cats with extra toes. The grey brothers came in the package with the black cat!

I have not been without a cat in my home for longer than 8 weeks since 1970. I grew up with cats, too but they were mostly yard cats and semi domesticated cats. Since I moved out on my own I have always had a cat except for the 2 months between Atlas and the next adoptee. Our four boys keep us entertained, comforted, and loved.

OH YEAH, I love Maine Coon Cats too. Have you seen Oberon?

Go to the pet forums and click on posts by Lorien and you will meet Obie the Great.

80. Yes.
I remember that post. The cutest thing I've ever seen, with those two little ones. Sadly, I went there just now and found that one of the little ones has just died. We love cats so much. I have to go hug mine now.
