Poll question: Has Anyone Ever Given You A Surprise Party?
What was the occasion? Did they all jump out from behind drapes and furniture and shout "SURPRISE!"

1. Yes, unthankfully (though I was publicly gracious)
I like to be involved in party planning so there are no unpleasant guests or surprises. Nothing like being ambushed with a party that's ostensibly for you that you wouldn't have gone to if you had a choice. x(

2. For my 50th
My sister surprised me with a party full of old friends I hadn't seen in years. I was totally surprised. We had stopped in to see some friends (they were part of the set-up and were delaying us from getting over to my sisters). I thought we were just picking up my sister and b-i-l and going to dinner.

The next day several of us went to Magic Mountain for the day and then my husband surprised me with a flight up to the Mt. Shasta area. On my actual birthday we hiked the mountain.

It was the best birthday week I have ever had.

4. Yes, for my 40th.
My husband managed to get all my friends at work to come to my house ... and he had never met any of them! I was completely surprised. :)

7. No, but if you want to throw a surprise party
for me, I'd be so happy!
Let me go clean up my house in case you decide to take me up on my offer.

10. No, and I don't want them to
I dislike being surprised like that.

Gatherings are challenging enough for me as it is. I don't need it to be soemthing I'm not prepared to deal with first.

But hey, I'm throwing my own Halloween party this year! :D

11. No, thankfully.
I think that people realise that their life-expectancy would suddenly drop by a significant number of years were they to do that - especially if it were to mark a birthday (I haven't had one of those for several years, and do not intend to have another one for a couple of decades).

13. Yes, on my 40th.
And he proposed in front of the friends, too. But it was payback for a surprise party I gave him on his 40th at a local bar.

14. Yes
I forget how they fooled me. But It was a graduation party. Everybody was so happy and proud patting themselves on the back, I didn't have the heart to tell them don't you EVER do this shit to me again.

15. Yes, in second grade.
I was moving and my class had a party for me. Everyone drew pictures and said nice things and they made me a little book. Kind of a cool childhood type moment. :)

16. 'T'was my 19th birthday
I was outside working on my car, and my mom hollers out the door, "Jim's on the phone." I went inside and he said, "Hey, can you bring my Deep Purple album over? Larry wants to borrow it." I was all grubby from Chevy gunk, but Jim was my bestest friend and we worked on cars at his house all the time, so I just took off. Rang the bell at his house and 30 people opened it and yelled "SURPRISE!"
:wow:

My mom, who was in on it, told me later she wished she could've figured out a way to get me to change clothes before I left. :eyes:
