What do you want to do before you die? |
|
Me:
* Get Blake's 7 series 4 on DVD. * Date a woman * Put up three more picture frames * Buy that issue of Playgirl I've always wanted * grow a spine and tell my snotty coworkers to see things from my point of view as I've got one too * Find a cure for the common cold, herpes, and Asperger's syndrome that's all rolled in one.
How about you?

I want to date a woman too. Also, I want to escape the south and move either up north or out west so I can meet some good DU type people as opposed to the ones I have to deal with here. Also, I want to see the Statue of Liberty and reminesce about the good ol' days when we had rights and stuff.

14. It's not so much about what I want to DO, but what I want to BE |
|
I want to be Content, at Peace, Fulfilled....among other things.
We spend so much energy in life doing, doing, doing, doing, doing, doing, doing..being very OUTwardly focused and defining ourselves by what we do and how much we have, instead of focusing within, on the nature of our souls.
I want to be a human BEing, not a human DOing. For me, it's about quality of living, not what I accomplish.
Just another perspective, Shine

I'm a pacifist kind of guy but I think World War II aviation is really cool and I'd love to fly a P-51 or take a ride in a bomber. The rest of my list is mostly more of what I've done already: Great bike rides, hikes and river adventures in a canoe or raft.

Aside from marijuana, I've never tried any other drug, mind-altering or otherwise (well except for the anti-psychotics I'm currently on). I've always said that when I'm not long for this world I will write up a checklist & go through them one-by-one. I'm especially interested in heroin having devoted a year of my life to studying William Burroughs.

31. Make my first DU post |
|
I did it! Now I can relax. I've been a long-time reader of DU, so I finally took the plunge to become a full-fledged member. And it feels good. So... Hello everybody! Oh, and also before I die, I'd like to write a book. I still haven't figured out what kind of book, but any book would be nice, because it would kind of be like immortality- even though I'd be gone, at least my name and thoughts would still be floating around out there (or sitting on a dusty bookshelf).

I don't know why I lurked around DU for so long before becoming a member either. I read DU as my primary source of news, mostly (it's much easier on the stomach than the mainstream news sources). Then, like you were saying, I started to notice what a cool community the DUers are, and I just wanted to become a part of that. I think DU will be kind of like a support group for me; much needed after years of dealing with all kinds of fundie crap. :) Anyway, thanks again for the warm welcome! I'm glad to be here.

54. Wow! I should try that |
|
My mother's family bought the home in the mid 40's. It was one of those "Levite" homes and my mom's, parent's home was one of the first in the neighborhood. Thus they got a corner lot (3/4 of an acre!)My grandparents died young and my mother inherited. That's where I grew up until Maine when I was 12.
God, I miss NJ. The seasons are pretty much 4 per/yr. And the foliage is pretty much there straight up till Halloweeen, I remember going in my Little-Bo-PeeP outfit one year. That'd be unheard of in Maine! Poor kids have to run around in Parkas.
Sorry I got carried away. Thanks for the tip. I SO badly want to see my old home.

Edited on Sun Oct-16-05 05:02 PM by fujiyama
Easter Island, Tibet (preferably a free one), all of Europe (I'm pretty sure I'll end up visiting a few countries in Europe within the next year or two), ancient civilizations in Central and South America, .
A few things I'd like to do:
Fall in love with a liberal woman.
Buy property in Manhattan (haha, I'd never be able to afford something out there)
Either run for congress or be an advisor/aide for a top politician...
I have some confidence I will be able to visit the places I want to, but others are more silly fantasies...

See my niece act in a play.
Find out where in Ireland and England my ancestors came from, and obtain some more pictures of the family.
Properly learn French (I've been dabbling in it since parochial school).
Publish something.
Take some writing classes/workshops.
Go to that political seminar in County Mayo (Llewellyn King, call your office) one summer.
Go back to Ireland, the U.K., and Germany.
Finally see Switzerland.
Visit Taiwan.
Buy a condo with a balcony.
Leave said condo in good condition so relatives don't curse me every minute of cleaning it out after my death.
Explore Brooklyn in the company of a friend.
Finally take another dance class.
And a lot more. I guess I'd better stop posting and DO something! :-)
