I miss snorkeling over the number one breeding ground of
hammerhead sharks at the crack of dawn so much. I miss taking a ride with my buddy in his truck to the pier, slipping on our fin booties and walking to the pier. Then diving off the side, and doing a hell of a lot of laps, waving to the fishermen who were hoping to catch some hammerheard. All before 6 am.

I miss Hawaii.

1. Getting a little morose because you haven't seen the sun for 8 days?
I think we all are.

I find myself unable to sleep.

4. If you'd seen the things I've seen, then
the non-stop gray would be something you'd laugh off

10. Oh, no, let's not compare things we've seen.
Let's just not.

3. Possibly
I dunno, I miss being able to dive into the water backwards and wear myself out in warm water.

5. Ah, but at least you have the memories of having been to Hawaii.
Lots of us don't.

7. No, lots of people don't
I consider myself fortunate. It was my duty station, it was where I grew up.

9. I want to go there for possibly the last reason most people do:
The music. I really like slack-key Hawaiian slide guitar, and woudl really like to find some native musicians who play it.

Hell with the beach. Gimme some roast pig and slide guitar. Though wahines would not be a negative.

and some of us were there and dumb enough to think being stationed there was a good thing. it wasn't a good thing for me, i missed my girl who was 6 thousand miles away. sure, i played around, but none of it was fulfilling
