I tend to forget about it. I only ever think about it when I read Beowulf. I'm an English nerd. :silly:
But I saw some fabulous stuff at the NC Wine festival back in June...
That's a great idea, KW! I'll put that on my list...

A nice pale lager (not the maligned fizzwater that we call beer) something with spicy notes and low bitterness, overall sweet taste. I would recommended a nice Weissen.
A smoked brown ale with fruity overtones, maybe brewed with pumpkin spice and a bit of cocoa. Mmmm.
I have no idea where to get these from. I will be brewing the latter in days to come. :)

|
esp a lot of the stuff from the UK and Europe. :9
Tho' Weissen has always been available. I'll definitely be sure to have some of that on hand.

which, depending on the most recent war is either French or German. ;-) I think they consider themselves 1/2 and 1/2.

Isn't it great? I homebrew my own beer, which destroys the fizzwater that this vended for six bucks. It costs me 2.50 to brew two cases.

I've looked into home winemakeing too.
Is it difficult to homebrew? Expensive?

14. Actually, the first purchase is the most expensive. |
|
Go to these sites:
hba.org northernbrewer.com thehomebrewery.com
You'll need a 5.5 gallon or larger stock pot. Two fermentation buckets. Bottles. Caps and Capper and if you get a starting kit, you get damn near everything we need.

10. Mulled Sweet Cider and Hard Cider! |
|
For the former, heat sweet, (pasteurized!) unfiltered cider in a saucepan with stick cinnamon, cloves, allspice, ginger, lemon and orange zest. Once it begins to warm, add honey. Stir to dissolve. Add dark rum (Barbancourt is best, followed by Myers). Serve in big mugs, garnished with cinnamon stick.
As far as the hard cider is concerned, try the Woodchuck brand sampler. The pear cider in the sampler is just plain wonderful.
Cheers! :toast:

How could I forget cider! D'oh!
I was sitting here thinking of all kinds of finger foods I could serve, but I was drawing a blank on drinks. :-)
I love draft cider.

17. What lemonade is to summer |
|
cider is to the Fall.
Also, you can keep your mulled cider virgin and add the rum individually so kids and tee-totallers can enjoy it, too.
Whoever mentioned the smoked beer (rauchbier, auf Deutsch) had a great idea, too. Also, if you've got a charcoal grill, you can smoke a pork shoulder and really impress your friends with wonderful hickory-smoked pulled pork sandwiches.
Sounds like a fun get-together's in the offing. Don't forget the theramin music!
