1. In 1999, my wife won $50,000 in one (Virginia Weather).
She was just my "baby's momma" back then, and we had just broken up a few days before - lucky me.

The tragic thing is that she spent it in less than 6 months. Also, in total she's probably spent more that $50,000 on scratch offs before she won that.

2. Yup, I know someone who won $10,000 on two separate occasions.
Plus he was already rich. Figures.

4. Did they blow it in a couple of months, too?

Neither me nor my wife at that time were rich. We had a son, but we weren't together at that point. We were both doing so-so independently.

She could have saved it, which I encouraged her to do. But like I said, we had just broken up a few days before that, and she was mad at me. So she listened to all her friends and blew it all on stupid stuff.

5. I dunno. I think he just threw it on the pile.
And up here, lottery winnings are tax-free.

3. NC Lottery will be starting up soon
The Lottery board just met for the first time a couple of weeks ago.

I don't know yet what kinds of games they will have.

6. I buy them once in awhile
Edited on Sat Oct-15-05 08:03 PM by bigwillq
Sometimes they're fun.

I just don't like the people who go into the store and buy $100 worth of scratch offs and then $100 in lotto, standing there for 20 fucking minutes reading off their numbers when all I want to do is pay for gas and get the hell outta there!

7. Try waiting in the car for that person that's taking forever.

I hate that shit, and completely agree with you.

Sorry, I'm doing a mini-rant.
