We need a middle name for our unborn child..... |
|
Baby (boy) is due in Feb. The first name is to be Drake, middle name is undecided. My wife is against the name Beelzebub, which was my idea.:hi: So, we are in a little dilemma. Help out. The person that provides the winning name gets absolutely nothing.

Good call there.
Okay, have you considered: behindthename.com? Best naming resource on the Internets, if you ask me. In general, I like to tell people to make sure that the name they pick for their kid has significance, especially if this factor is significant to them--meaningless "pretty" names can get old. Also, you may want to take the time to make sure that the name has a nice "rhythm." Well, I would, anyway. I assume you have no special family names you want to use?

6. how about Benjamin Drake? I go by my middle name. |
|
Edited on Sun Oct-16-05 01:14 AM by fleabert
it's a semi family tradition- there's a bunch of us that don't use our first names and never have.
Drake feels like a middle name to me, I think because it's a strong, one syllable name. a three syllable name before it flows quite well.
I will keep thinking. I have been told I am good at this. what does the last name start with? you don't want bad initials...
on edit: Drake Kennedy Drake Jefferson Drake Luther
(with all of these I again like Drake as the middle name better, but they work)

Drake may be the middle name, cause it has to flow well. Last name starts with a B to answer your question.

also, Jefferson Drake is nice too. JDB
Francisco is good either way, imo. It means 'free land' in spanish. it's one of my family names
Drake Selim- means peace in Turkish
timothy drake (honoring god)
drake tennyson (son of dennis)
walter drake, if you like old world names (powerful warrior)
i need to know if you are adventurous or want a more simple name...

7. I proposed naming my brother Dizzy Braunschweiger in 1963 |
|
Edited on Sun Oct-16-05 01:23 AM by neebob
My dad, who worked at Safeway, had brought home some braunschweiger. I didn't like it, and of course they didn't use my idea. My brother didn't even get a middle name. So you could use Dizzy, or Braunschweiger, or both. I'd be honored.
Oh, wait a minute - my brother did too get a middle name: Gary. That's what he goes by. Dizzy Braunschweiger would have been so much more interesting.

Drake:From a surname derived from either Middle English drake "male duck" or else from the Old Norse personal name Draki or the Old English personal name Draca both meaning "dragon".
Lorenzo:Italian form of Laurentius. Lorenzo Medici, known as the Magnificent, was a ruler of Florence during the Renaissance. He was also a great patron of the arts who employed Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Botticelli and other famous artists.

deer? My son is doing a report on Crispus Atticus, and he was born to a native american woman from the "Natic" tribe her name was Nancy Atticus, his father was a slave- He was the first person killed in the fight (by insurgent 'freedom fighters' aka the Sons of Liberty) called the Boston Masacre in March of 1770.
Just some trivia for you- I find it very.... profound, that the first person to die for the creation of this 'free country' was a fugitive slave- and a black/native american one at that.
Kinda makes one think-

I think names are more mellifluous if they vary in syllables from the first to the last.
Bethany Kent is more mellifluous than Bess Kent, just to use an example.

the first and middle names sound better if they have a different number of syllables, something about the flow. So, with a single syllable first name, you can go balls-out with the second, i.e., Sebastian, Constantine, Alexander, Oliver, Nicholas, etc. Many people give their kids 2-syllable first and middle names, and the flow just isn't fabulous.
Good luck. Remember it is something he will have from you forever. Still, Skywalker sounds pretty cool ...

67. In 1st gr I named a friend's brother Ryan Patrick |
|
I went to his house one day soon before his mom gave birth to her third son. The two older brother's each wanted their little brother to be named after themself. Their mom asked what I thought and I said either Ryan Patrick or Gregory Patrick. A few weeks later my friend comes into school telling me his parents went with my first pick.
I have an uncle named Elston and I've always loved his name. However I know if I had a son and used it my eight other uncles would get jealous so I now encourage others having sons to go for it.
