anyone use that memory foam mattress topper?
I'm often tossing and turning at night trying to find a comfortable position where my hips/shoulders don't end up aching

thought about getting a memory foam mattress topper - but I don't want to spend a "brazillion" dollars on one if they don't help

1. I have one. I love it.
Got a nice hard mattress and with the cushiness on top it's perfect. Look around there's all sorts of "grades" and thicknesses. Got mine from Kohl's for about $100. I've seen them at Costco reasonably.

3. Got one on clearance, it makes my bed sleepable
I have a sleeper couch that's a little smaller than a twin. A half inch queen size pad folded over makes it downright comfy, and without it, the stupid thing is about as comfortable as sleeping on a pile of old shoes.

5. ours makes the sheets fit funny
it helped improve a marginal mattress but took a few nights to get used to. actually, it took enough getting used to that we discussed throwing it away before we did.

6. I don't have one, but I did a ton of research on them this summer.

That was before I decided to buy a new mattress/box spring set. Anyway, what I learned about mattress toppers is that they can be helpful if your mattress is in pretty good condition to begin with. But they will not help much if you place them on an already crappy, lumpy, worn out mattress. So, for what it's worth, that's what I found out.

Oh, and I also found out that thicker is better. A three-inch topper, although more expensive, will be more comfortable than a one-inch one.

7. Consider a down mattress topper
I have one and it's like sleeping on a cloud!

But then again, I have a stiff back and like that the mattress gives underneath me.

I also sleep with a body pillow.

10. We bought the "Cuddle Ewe" mattress topper (can they get a better
spokeswoman than Dr. Laura please?) and it has really reduced the pain of aching joints for me. :hi:

12. I did some research on them
Here's what I learned:
1. 2" thick is optimum, no need for 4".
2. 4 lb weight (means density) is better than 5 pound (Tempurpedic is 5 pound and very expensive).
3. Toppers are as good or better than full mattress
4. Memory foam breaks down after about 5 years.
5. Most places have a 30 to 90 day money back guarantee.

I settled for a memory foam contour pillow since my problems are in my neck mosty. It took about a week to get used to it and I almost sent it back. Gave me a back ache while my spine readjusted to the correct position, but I'm happy now. And yes, they are warm. The foam is great insulation.
