Do you think a person is a loser if he can't even get a pickup at a bar?
Hypothetical, naturally.

2. If that's the case
that tag would have to include a fair # of the population. That's a skill like any other. But to answer your question directly, no.

If so, then I'm a loser.

And I don't consider myself one. That's just not an area where I excel. (Nor do I want to, really)

Bars are not, IMO, the best place to meet the love of my life. I want to meet him sober. :hi:

And don't forget. Allen said he and his partner met at a friend's funeral. ;-)

Not saying it's good to hang out at funerals, but just that you can meet someone interesting *anywhere* if you've a mind to.

19. I agree that said person is not a loser, but...
I did, in fact, meet the love of my life in a bar. Neither of us was drunk or even tipsy. We had a drink and a dance and went to the Perkins across the street for breakfast.

Three months later, I married him. :)

8. Quite the opposite
People who can ONLY get picked up (or do the picking up) while intoxicated or in a bar setting are losers. Not the other way around.

if it's the funeral director hitting on the bereaved granddaughter of the deceased (yes, that actually happened to me at my grandmother's funeral!).

11. Quite possibly.
If one is so boorish or unattractive that they can't even grab the drunk chicks/dudes at the end of the night on a regular basis there is a good chance that person is a loser. You can't base it on one attempt of course but if a pattern develops that person just might be in the "L" column. It's just a harsh fact of life.

12. Who would want to buy a pickup truck from someone at a bar?!?!
Edited on Sun Oct-16-05 11:04 AM by stlsaxman
Tell the person to try a certified dealer, hypothetically of course...

;)

Seriously, though- the bar scene is great for really bad sex from people you know absolutely nothing about and of course there's always that awkward morning moment when you can't remember their name.

18. No. I think that there are certain personality types that are better...
at picking people up at bars. However, that doesn't make everyone else a loser -- just not good at picking people up at bars.

I have a friend who's really great at picking people up at bars, but nobody would ever look at her at Barnes and Noble or Starbucks. I think that people give off vibes of one kind or another. Certain people have the bar pickup type of vibe.

if this hypothetical person is ONLY trying to get picked up at a bar, then yes. It's not the best place to meet people.

22. Somebody beat me to it,
I'm not really a truck guy--but if I were I'd try the paper or a dealership! ;)

But to answer your question, is one success enough to make a person a non-loser, or do you need a certain number of successes? What are the minimum requirenments?

I like to go to bars (occasionally) AND I like to hook up (also occasionally, however I am not into one night stands) but combining the two is usually pretty bad news.

30. I think that it depends upon the bar
At some bars everyone is hooking up. At some bars, people don't hook up anymoer than they do at a graocery store. At some bars, people appear to be hooking up a lot but only within a group of aquaintances who have known each other for a while. At some bars, people will appraoch each other freely. At others, a person has to be be esepecially flirty to get any type of attention. It also depends upon what type of people you want to pick up. I'm married but most of the people who have come onto me strongly at bars are not people who I'd want to hook up with even if I were single and into that type of thing.
