"In Music, The Shakers were a successful Uruguayan rock group the name of whom is widely known in the Rio de la Plata; or the well chosen name for a Nashville, Tennessee group in the 1980s-1990s of three non-rock though pop music 'gothic acoustica' performers, headed by the etherial Rebecca Stout teamed with only an acoustic guitar and mandolin player--echoing intentionally the simplicity, emotional music, and idiosyncracy of the Shaker culture. The Stout-Shaker sound is in some ways comparable to the Cowboy Junkies."
