I have just solved the voting problem in this country!
I was sitting here, in front of the computer, musing and philosophizing, reading a thread about diebold machines, and suddenly I was overcome with the most perfect eiphany ever - the solution to this country's problem with the voting machines and other voting problems came to me, as though from God himself, flung into my head at high speed filling me from toe to head with a glowing realization of both my own Divine Nature, AND of realizing how perfectly simple the solution is, so simple no one thought of it because it was standing right before them; so obvious, it went unseen. And here it is: I am the only one who gets to vote.

1. One man, one vote.
Perfect in it's simplicity.

I would happily take upon myself the complimentary role of voter in Britain.

Now we just need to designate the voter in the other countries, and we're good to go!

7. Science Fiction Story
There is a science fiction story which takes this approach as its theme. The election system is set up to select one citizen as representative of the entire population. This person is designated The Voter and then casts (the obviously) winning vote in the election. I don't know if it's a paper ballot or not, however. If it's cast on a DRE, you could still have a rigged election.

Unfortunately, I remember neither the title or the author. But obviously it struck me as interesting at the time.

8. It IS secret ballot, though. Right?
I mean, that's only right and fair.

I get to write the bills to vote on.

First order of the day - Adam Sandler is to be shot into the Sun.

11. Fair enough, he'll be shot into the sun
inside a specially built life sustainable capsule - with force feeding enabled so he can't starve himself to death - in a pressure-controlled chamber that cycles between dropping and gaining several atmospheres every ten minutes or so, while robotic arms with envelopes on the end reach out on give his privates paper cuts and then spray vinegar on the wound - while his orbit drops a few hundred miles each year slowly increasing the temperature until Mr. Sandler is finally boiled from the inside out.

13. I can live with that. And send Mariah Carey up there with him.
Just to put a knife into the wound, and to get rid of that shrill crapstar.

12. Watching his own movies
Maybe he could be made to watch his own movies all day, everyday. I've been told that there's one that's not bad, but I couldn't bring myself to find out.

14. How about vote your IQ?
Edited on Mon Oct-17-05 10:30 AM by RedCloud

Whatever your IQ is, that's how many votes you get. So that should settle whether we are blue or red for just about forever!
