Extreme Home Makeover is bullshit
Edited on Sun Oct-16-05 06:59 PM by DS1
How about rewarding some non-out-of-control-breeders for a change? It's always "So and so family live in a 4 bedroom house, and then decided to have 14 kids, so we're going to give them a brand new pad!"

Well, I say "Fuck that shit". How about giving a nice couple, pick your hardship - people without kids go through them too - and giving them a sweet house with cool things like a game room, and sex dungeon, and big assed walk-in bathroom with jacuzzi and indoor pool!

:wtf:

1. The people who founded the camp for disabled kids? Those bastards!

Next Episode:
Sunday, October 16, 7/6c
"Teas Family"
In a two-hour presentation of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, Ty and the gang go back to camp to help Paul and Cyndy Teas, who have given all they have to the camp they founded for disabled children -- and neglected their own home as a result.

Edit: They have 2 kids of their own.

4. Fine, give them a house
But EVERY episode it's the same old too-many-kids deal. Surely there can be ONE couple out there :eyes:

15. Let's see--there was this couple last week
"Just one month after Gordon finally mustered up the courage to start his own cabinetry business, he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Instead of feeling sorry for himself, however, he used his time in the hospital to plan something special for his neighbors, The Gandys. Now everyone on the Harrisons' street wants to pay him back for all that his family has done in the neighborhood."

They had 2 kids of their own.

-------------

And then these assholes:

"Billy Jack and Anne have always had a knack for challenges - it used to be for handling disobedient horses when they were working in the equestrian business as real life "horse whisperers." Now it's raising and adopting children deemed "unmanageable" and "un-adoptable" according to the Colorado Department of Human Services which claims that these are the children no one wants."

----------

Oh, and who could forget these:

"When PFC Lori Piestewa was in Iraq, she told her roommate and best friend, PFC Jessica Lynch, that her dream was to return to her home in Tuba City, Arizona and build her parents a house to which they could retire. But in March 2003, Lori lost her life, becoming the first American woman killed in the Iraq war. Lori died while trying to save the lives of her friends, Jessica Lynch and Shoshannah Johnson, as she navigated her Humvee through gunfire and debris when it was hit by a rocket-propelled grenade.

Lori is also believed to be the first Native American woman to die in a foreign war. She was a true warrior spirit who fought and died for her country. The 23-year-old divorced mother left behind two young children, Brandon and Carla Whiterock, who are six and five years old, respectively, and are being cared for by Lori's parents, Percy and Terry Piestewa. Currently the family lives in a rented 1,200-square-foot mobile home on a reservation in Tuba City, Arizona."

20. Yea yea yea, it's easy to pick and choose and make the case
for houses that have already been built - but show me ONE childless couple that have seen anything from this show.

25. Sorry, but the Opening Post said "It's always "So and so family live
in a 4 bedroom house, and then decided to have 14 kids, so we're going to give them a brand new pad!"

Clearly, it's not "always" that and that's all I was pointing out. It's not even "usually" that.

Making a separate argument about whether they show childess couples is something you bring up now.

2. Yeah, something like "because you have shown that you are actually
responsible and haven't breeded beyond your capacity to afford, nor for the earth to sustain, we would like to give you a 3500 foot house so you can properly entertain your equally responsible and intelligent friends in a proper manner, and enjoy the bigass jacuzzi and spa like atmosphere of the master suite."

.... would it make good television?

Ok, I know, IS it good television now? I don't watch it - I was thoroughly done with the "home makeover" shows after Trading Spaces :)

11. I'm disabled and relatively poor....
I'll take in a couple of the DU students and pretend we have a commune like thing going where I am the lord and master and then maybe we can get LAura Bush and that ass hole who runs the show and can't seem to put his hands on a comb, EVER... and ask for a new playboy type mansion...

From there we can spread the good news, just like the hippies in the sixties...

We can get a magic bus and paint it all up in weird mis match colors and drive around Harvard and yell at business student that they are the bain of the universe and try to persuade them to take up philosophy at the community college...

for what they spend on just one family. A lot of what they do seems to be excessive.
