5. I turned it on just before going to bed.....saw it was Pujols, who swung
weakly at a slider in dirt.

then announcer said Lidge should stick to sliders, as Pujols is one of best FB hitters in BB.

very NEXT pitch was almost put into, uh, orbit!!!!

couldn't tell what kind of pitch

I SO wished that big fat bugeyed Bar could have been shown in reaction shot

GO CARDS!

win Weds and wreck both NL teams' rotation

Go SOXXXXX!!!!

38. Dear GOD, I Hope You Are Right
I'm having flashbacks of 1980 (fuck you, Phillies!!) and 1986 (fuck you, Mets!!) and 2004 (fuck you, Cardinals!!) all over again!

Goddamn it, if the Cards had just won 2-1 toinght it wouldn't hurt as bad.

I still sincerely hope Oswalt bangs Pujols on the fuckin' HEAD on Wednesday night. He won't, I know he won't, but damn I sure wish he WOULD!!

To be one fucking strike away from a pennant, and to have victory snatched away so brutally...I wanna fucking burn every goddamn Cardinal in effigy right now!

Goddan, I wish I had a Cardinals jersey so I could pick up DOGSHIT with it!!

My ultimate dream....and to have it snatched away like that...

Goddamn, I was THIS CLOSE to having BOTH my favorite teams in the whole WORLD...facing each other in the World Series, and then Albert Motherfucking Pujols had to screw it up for me.

'Course, I'd still have to root for the White Sox in a Sox-'Stros Series, only because I've been a fan of the Sox longer...but I'd root for a seven game Series with the seventh game going into extra innings!!

Then again, IF the CRAPINALS do manage to pull a pennant outta their asses, it'll be kind of fun to send LaRussa down, that bastard couldn't win for US when he was OUR manager, back in 1983, and I won't forget it. LaRussa, you goddamn bum!!

You coulda won it for us in 1983, but you fucked it up...and now you go on to do this to my Astros, I fucking HATE LaRussa!!

62. The difference is
you're talking about intentionally injuring a guy for doing his job, which is to help win ball games. As far as I'm concerned, you're advocating a criminal act.

And if Pujols does get hit, and you celebrate it, you're no better than those who celebrated the WTC attacks.

This has gone way beyond team loyalty. This is sociopathic.

it's pretty obvious that there's not a hell of a lot to laugh about.

As for "perspective," I've been a baseball fan for 40 years. You throw at somebody to knock him down, push him off the plate and take some of the fight out of him. Not to hurt him.

71. I wondered about that neck thing-- my thoughts exactly
Plus, you throw at his head instead of his neck, because he drops straight down when the ball goes near his head, and if you throw at his neck his head might drop right into the path.

As for your comparison, you certainly did compare the two. If you are claiming that celebrating one is as bad as celebrating the other, then anyone reading is going to have the impression that you are saying one is as bad as the other. Worse, your posts are the only ones anyone is taking seriously in this thread--the rest is just smack. Lighten up. Have fun. That's what sports is about. No one is throwing at Pujols--I personally love the guy and am amazed by what he did last night. I'm still pissed at the bastard!!

But I wouldn't throw at their heads. :7

Anyway, it wasn't you I had issues with in the first place, and I should've made that clear from the start. I still disagree with you, but, hell — what's baseball without disagreements? Golf or something.

74. No Difference
Poo-Hole just ripped my heart out.

Bet your ass I'm gonna celebrate it if he gets hit. And, celebrating a guy getting hit, and thus, taken out of a ballgame does not even compare to celebrating the DEATHS of 3,000 innocents!

I celebrated when Reggie Sanders got hurt, too. I didn't want him hurt tooo badly...just enough to keep him out of a couple of games. I got my wish in that case. But Reggie was just a big bat I'd prefer to not see play, he hadn't directly hurt us the way Poo-Hole did.

I wanna see his BLOOD!!!

Sociopathic? Maybe so. I don't really give a flying fuck what you think about it.

The motherfucking Cardinals were in the damn Series LAST YEAR!! MY Astros, on the other hand, HAVE NEVER GOTTEN TO GO TO THE SERIES!

And to come one strike away, and have that motherfucker take it away like THAT...no, I want his BLOOD!

I wouldn't have been pissed if Berkman and Poo-Hole both had not hit their respective homers, and St. Louis won 2-1. That woulda hurt, but not as bad as what Poo-Hole did.

65. I grew up following the Saints. My first baseball teams were Texas
and Houston. My first basketball team was the Mavericks. Not a one has ever been to a championship game! You learn not to get too serious.

Fortunately I became a Cowboys fan when I moved to Dallas, and a Rockets and Spurs fan when I moved to Austin, so I've gotten some fun. Austin's been cool this year. The Spurs, the Longhorns baseball team, Lance Armstrong, and maybe the UT football team. Now if I can get the Astros to the Series, I'll be overloaded!

75. You Live In Austin??
I used to live there till earlier this year when I could no longer find work to sustain myself down there and had to move back home with Mommy at age 34, a complete and total fucking failure at life, thank you GWB, you bastard!
I never wanted to leave Austin. I'm still pissed about the Longhorn win. They couldn't fucking win all those years I was down there, and coulda enjoyed it....no, they wait till I LEAVE, and then finally stick it to the Shroomers!

Lance is awesome, I love that guy! I like the Spurs, too. Used to be a Cowboy fan (and long before the 1990's) but switched allegiance to the Texans after Jerry Jones fucked up the team.

That said, I don't really understand much about basketball or football, but I still like to see those teams do well. My heart is not in it with them the way I am about the Astros...because BASEBALL I actually DO understand, and I love it, and I play it myself!

Anyway, I was totally curious whereabluts in Austin do you live? I lived in South Austin, myself, just off of Oltorf and IH 35. Fucking wish I could be back there, too.

No fuckin' jobs up here, either, but at least, up here, I don't have to worry about a heartless landlord kicking me the hell out when I could not pay the rent.

Anyway...what anyone does not yet understand about me here is this...
EVERY FUCKING TIME in my life I ever wanted something REALLY BADLY...and I actually got it...some son-of-a-bitch would come along and take it away. EVERY FUCKIN' TIME!! And Poo-Hole just did it to me again. So I want his fucking blood.

I was completely dead serious about hoping he gets nailed in the head...HARD...and I do wanna see blood! In fact, if you REALLY want to hit a guy like that, you throw BEHIND his head, not at his neck.

The instinct is for the player to back up when a ball is coming at him. Now, if you throw just behind his head, he's gonna back off, and right INTO that ball.

That is called headhunting. And I wanna see some of it on Wednesday after what Poo-Hole did.

That fucker stole my dream away, and I will never fogive, and I will never forget!

Even if the 'Stros DO win on Wednesday, I won't forgive or forget Poo-Hole. I shoulda been celebrating last night!!

Instead, I gotta deal with a bunch of fucking Cardinal fans rubbing salt in my wounds and I am fucking pissed.

76. Relax, Albert has his dreams, too.
When we yank them away from him on Saturday, he'll feel worse than getting beaned.

And anyway, what the heck did they pitch to him for? Why the hell did they pitch around Edmunds and pitch to Pujols? A perfect home run pitch, at that. Hell, La Russa could have hit that ball out of the park. Get mad at the pitcher and the manager for deciding to pitch to him. They should have gone after Edmunds instead of Pujols. I knew as soon as the pitcher walked Edmunds that the pressure had gotten to him, that he was going to screw up to Pujols, too. He just wasn't up to the game.

I live in northwest Austin, btw. The Austin job market is still pretty weak, though it's stronger than it was a year ago.

82. I Don't give A Shit about HIS Dreams - That Fucker Got To Go LAST YEAR!!
he can go fuck himself. My 'Stros have never gotten to go.

And they did not pitch around Edmunds. Lidge fucked up and walked him, it was not intentional.

But Poo-Hole didn't have to go and do what he did, and if I could, I'd take the bat he did it with, and ram it up his ass for him!

78. The only thing that would've made that sweeter, for non-Stro's fan DUers,
would have been if the ball flew into the stands where shrub sr. and babs were, landed in their lap and splashed their chili dogs and coke and nachos all over their face, to be replayed as a highlight hourly on "SportsCenter", LOL

79. Chi Sox are getting rusty.
Those long waits should teach the AL a lesson for starting their series earlier.

I hope it goes seven.

There is no hope for the ChiSox because on Saturday they will face either Pettitte or Carpenter! Then Mulder or Oswalt.

Don't bet on the ChiSox this year!

81. Are You Nuckin' Futs?!!?
Weren't you paying attention to the pitching of Contreras, Buehrle, Garland, and Garcia?
Jesus christ, these are among the best pitchers in the modern day, and here you are counting the white sox out already because of Pettite, who hasn't won a fuckin' postseason game YET for my 'Stros...or Carpenter....or Mulder, who hasn't won a single NLCS game for his team this year, or Oswalt?

Yeah, Oswalt's good...so are Clemens, Pettite, and yes, even Carpenter and Mulder. But you are completely discounting the fact that Buehrle, Contreras, Garland, and Garcia are damned good too.

My prediction is that it will be a low-scoring World Series, it will be more a pitcher's duel, be it the 'Stros or Cards who get in on the NL side.

I do think it will go all seven...or at least six...no one is getting an easy Series out of this. No one is gonna win this one in four or five.

But, here you are, already discounting the White Sox, and that tells me that you are more following your heart as a fan...rather than your head as a serious sports fan.

You can't honestly believe the White Sox have no hope of winning and should be just written off...when they have arguably the best four-man rotation in baseball, now can you?

Now, granted, I, as a White sox fan, certainly have my share of fan bias, but only a moron would completely write off the sox before the fucking Series even started!!

Hell, I'm still hoping for the 'Stros to make it to the WS, and I think they will, I don't think St. Louis can really come back from being down 3-1. But I sure as hell am not discounting the very possibility that they might.

They aren't dead till they stop breathing.

And, no matter what, I'm rooting for the Sox for the WS Title. even if they are playing my beloved 'Stros. Been a fan of the Sox longer, what can I say? Though I do hope a 'Stros/Sox series goes seven games.

On the other hand, if it is the Cardinals...just on principles, I hope the sox mow 'em down in four, though I doubt it would be that easy.

But I fuckin' HATE the Cardinals, and I fuckin' HATE LaRussa. That bastard couldn't win for us when he was White sox manager back in 1983!! Fuck him. Love nothing more than to see the team he gave up on come back and knock his arrogant ass down a few notches. I got a hate-on on LaRussa that goes back eighteen years.

that said, it's all the MORE reason to root for the 'Stros in the NLCS...even if I wasn't a 20-year long fan of the 'Stros.

But, being a THIRTY-FOUR YEAR LONG fan of the White Sox, I still gotta root for them, even if it is against my 'Stros.

83. gospel.
Hey mermaid:hi:

Didn't you get the memo? 44 and 1/3 innings out of 45 possible just won't get it done. 4 complete games, not acceptable. Holding the opposition to a .176 BA all series while giving up a total of 4 walks? Just not the way you want your starters in the postseason.

lol

GO CHISOX!!!!!!

84. Amen.
I got the memo about the TPS reports... :D

No, seriously, the guy I initially responded to is quite obviously following his heart as a fan, and not his head when he discounts the White Sox that easily.

I think the Sox are going all the way. Not just as a fan, though I admit that is part of it...but as a serious follower of baseball, given the performance all year long given by Buehrle, Garlnad, Garcia...and in the second half of the season, by Contreras...the heroics at the plate of Crede, of Pierszynski, of Konerko...you just can't find, in my opinion, a more well-rounded team than this year's White Sox. Just can't be done!

So, in the famous words of Andy Rodzilsky....
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU WHITE SOOOOOOOOOOXXXXXXXXXXXXX!!!!!

This one's for you, Andy!!
This one's for you, Monty Stratton!
This one's for you, Shoeless Joe!!

P.S. Are you old enough...or enough of a fan, to know who Andy Rodzilsky is??
