Who's afraid their kids will follow your foosteps |
|
as they become teenagers? As for me I honestly couldn't expect a kid to have my youth although I know there are a lot of wallflowers out there.

1. The day my mother SCREAMED at me to 'be normal' like her, since my |
|
uniqueness had caused her soooooo much trauma and grief, was the day I walked out her door forever.
I can't imagine a woman wanting her child to be bitter, angry, racist, conformist, nervous, paranoid, hateful, scheming, frustrated, depressed.. not ideals I'd want to pass on to my kid, that's for sure!
So yes, I hope very, very much that my daughter strives to stand out in a crowd, to not blend in, to not be swayed by public opinion or other's ideas... we actually discuss this and try to find that middle ground of her being unique without being a totally ostracized freak... between us, it seems to be working. She's remarkably popular with very strong liberal, feminist ideas. She appears to be quite a leader in her new crowd, and is working hard to make sure she is friends with people she actually likes for the right reasons. So far, she's friends with everyone without alienating anyone... so hopefully she may turn out pretty good.

4. Your mom sounds like my dad. |
|
That's a very apt decription of him, especially the bitterness and the anger.

I live in fear of that happening with my daughter. My son is 14 and he is relatively sane for that age.

3. I've had a few problems with my daughter. |

My son is 18 and is like yours, relatively sane. I just want them to enjoy their youth within limits.

that The Wiley and Excellent Cat Named Ginger might set out on that lonely artistic road. So far, though, he's shown no interest in gainful employment of any kind.

9. The rodeo circuit is his hobby, you understand, |
|
and doesn't generate any income. Yes, why ruin it? I can see that you and he are thinking along the same lines (and I'm feeling like the victim of a KW/Ginger conspiracy. :tinfoilhat: )
