To all my dear Lounge Lizard friends: a little poem that has resonated |
|
for me at different times during my life. Has this work been meaningful for any of you?
"The road goes ever on and on Down from the door where it began. Now far ahead the Road has gone, And I must follow, if I can, Pursuing it with weary feet, Until it joins some larger way, Where many paths and errands meet. And whither then? I cannot say."
--J.R.R. Tolkien

7. Yesterday was a bad day |
|
I am starting to come out of it.
Turns out the truck driver had a suspended drivers license, and the bus had no chance of not hitting the jackknifed semi-truck.
I am so angry I could just....never mind.
Thankfully, Mo's son is safe and well, but damn, so unnecessary.

12. I kind of thought yesterday's accident played a big part in your |
|
absence today. I am so sorry for all that horror.
:grouphug: for you from all of us who love you.....

Right now I am really angry. I think that truck driver may have been able to prevent himself from jackknifing, the way the accident was described on the news.
The bus driver was likely to have not even seen the overturned truck before hitting it (the roadway was dark at 2 AM and the roadway is lined in forests where it happened).

My feet are a bit weary, and I'm still waiting to see where in the hell I am going. Also have moments of wondering if I've made the right choice.
Middle-age crisis, I guess.

I am older than you, and some days I still wonder where in heck my life is going as well!
I think this is entirely normal for intelligent humans, which we most certainly are!

3. Very nice, indeed. I love Tolkien. |
|
To me, this poem speaks to the spiritual journey we are all on and the Mystery which surrounds us.

Yes, I agree. Both your points are well taken, IMHO.
There is quite a lot of Mystery in our existence, and not just in this life, either.
That man sure did have his finger on the pulse of truth, I think.

How lovely of you to come by! Some days I too feel as though that poem also describes my life. It surely describes some intervals in it.

Unfortunately my road is leading to jail, I fear. Note to my fellow DUers, always pay your car insurance on time. THERE IS NO GRACE PERIOD ANYMORE.

Are you sure you're going to JAIL? Oh God, I hope not!
That is for sure one place I don't want your road to lead to!
Please take care of yourself, OK?

17. An unfortunate conjunction of stupidities, leading to |

my daughter's boyfriend getting a large insurance settlement, and I go to jail. If you want details, PM me. I'm scared.

13. I used the first line as the caption to my Senior photo for the |
|
yearbook. Tolkien wasn't the greatest poet in history, but he could be evocative. Good stuff there. B-)

16. Hey my dear Aristus! Nothing like starting a thread to bring out my |
|
best friends! I knew there was a reason I wanted to post this bit of poetry tonight: I missed you, and everyone else coming in to say hello!
How smart of you to use that first line so cleverly. His poetry always resonated for me, and so did his prose.
