God-DAMN! Pujols CRUSHED that hanging curve........
Edited on Tue Oct-18-05 09:37 AM by jandrok
As a baseball fan, I appreciate the high drama and the amazing athletic ability that Albert Pujols possesses.....but as an Astros fan, I just gotta say........SHIT! SHITSHITSHITSHIT!!!!!!!!! Why the FUCK did they pitch to him? Lay the ball on the far outside corner. Put it in the dirt. WHY FRICKIN' PITCH TO THE GUY?

Amazing. One out away. One STRIKE away, and they blow it.

1. Yes he did. But hey: It's not Angels/Red Sox in 1986.
It's not over, jandrok. Have hope!

3. Thanks, bertha.
There's still a tomorrow for my guys, but the momemtum has definitely shifted to the Cards. We still got Roy and Roger in the pipe, and I feel good about that, but to be so close and have it slip away like that is not a good feeling. Two strikes on Eckstein.......

5. I can't TELL you how well I know how you feel!
Fortunately, in 1986, when the Halos self-immolated, I was in a mental hospital. Seriously!

Look, Eck is a little firecracker. He was on the Angels' WS Champs team. It is nigh impossible to get that sweet little fucker out in a pinch. And Lidge just got nervous from there.

You're right - you've got Roy, then the Rocket if necessary. Buck up! This lifetime Halos fan will be watching and pulling for the Astros, all the way.

:bounce:

7. They keep going this way, and I'LL be in a mental breakdown.
But thanks for the support! We got at least 18 more innings to play....

2. I'm sorry I missed it
I'll have to check out the sports channels during lunch to see if I can catch a replay.

4. If it hadn't been for the screen
that ball would not have come down for about fifteen minutes. Can you say smoked?

8. Dude......if it hadn't landed in the Crawford boxes........
...it would still be traveling. He effin' HAMMERED that thing. Lidge knew it, too. There was no denying that moon shot.

10. Lidge had been killing us. I thought we were done.
We were fortunate.

That thing cleared the train track. I've been there...that is a LONG way.

12. I knew it was going to shit after he walked Edmonds.
His nerves got to him. You probably could have bounced a quarter 3 feet off of Lidge's nutsack by that point.

13. It was Edmonds who won game 6 last year.
Figures he'd be right in the middle of this.

Although I'm not a huge fan of the place, it's nice to have at least one more game in old Busch.

16. No, Garner's overused him.
He should not have pitched 4 innings in 3 games in 3 days. Which for a reliever is like 8 innings, remember it takes about an inning to warm up. He was tired. The Cards are adapting to him because they've seen him a lot. And, a bit of it is the nerves.

11. "They" say 412ft. I say bullshit.
412ft until it hit the stadium...it would have gone over 500ft. if it hadn't hit anything.

15. It was breath taking. A herculean clout!
I don't think Lidge will recover from this. Three games in a row and the Cardinals have been scoring on him in each.

Winning in St. Louis will be no picnic since the outfielders must cover more terrain, so they cannot be walking wounded.

Game 6 is do or die. Game seven will go to the Cards if it gets that far.
