MS Access will be the death of me
I just know it

Whoever first created this software - I hope a 40-year plague rains down upon you

That is all

1. Step one - Throw MS Access out the window. Include the manuals.
Step two - install MSDE. It's free, and it actually works.

2. You think I'd choose MSAccess as a first choice
This wasn't my choosing - I have no choice

5. Now that REALLY bites
I loathe Access too. Unfortunately, my employer bleeds M$, so we have little choice in the matter.

I find mySQL will handle most basic tasks pretty well, and PostgreSQL will scale up well for bigger things.

But SQL is totally overrated anyway. There's nothing databases can do that I can't do with an old-fashioned flat file and Fortran.

3. It IS annoying
When i was learning it, I asked the helper dude if Access was a poorly designed Sql wizard, and he agreed. There were times I was doing exactly what I was told to do and - pfft! nada.

7. Trust me - use MSDE
There is no reason on earth why you'd want access....except to torture yourself.

And MSDE is free....and it only has 3 settings: on, off and paused.

8. I appreciate the freedom of a free product like MSDE but....
in a corporate environment like where I work you don't just slap untested software on your computer without the PC Police bugging you as why you did this. Hell I can't even change my screensavor or deskop.

Not kidding you.
