Who has seen "Good Night and Good luck"? What did you think? |
|
I saw it last weekend and haven't had the time to see what others reactions were on DU. How did people like it?
I enjoyed it and thought it was really well done, but it felt kind of short. Even though I understand why it was that way, I felt it could have gone a bit more in depth to the mood at the time.
I would still recommend it though. There are certainly many parallels to today.

I think it has many layers of meaning- not only the McCarthy stuff which has obvious parallels to today but the whole concept of what TV is doing to our culture. How TV is making people stupid and not care about what is really going on.
on edit...I think Clooney is trying to encourage some news organization to stand up and fight the Bush Admin.
It is visually stunning, the music is great.
My one criticism was that there wasn't a whole lot of actual "drama." It was almost a documentary. But still...worth seeing if it is playing near you.
one more thing...tiny spoiler...the Annie Lee Moss segment I think is a direct jab at Ann Coulter (who wrote about her in her book "Treason" where she said McCarthy was a great American)
