Good Thursday Morning, Everyone! |
|
:donut::hi: How are all you Nighthawks doing? I hope well! I'm just fine except for waiting for the stupid coffee maker to get finished! x( So what's been going on overnight? Anything exciting?

Things are all jolly here - though I was later than desired getting up this morning (I spent about half an hour in bed telling myself to get up).
Some tea is infusing on my desk, and should be ready soon. :D
Coffee always takes soooooo much longer than it should - and it's pure torture waiting for it, here's a  to help you through.
How was your day-off?

:pals: I got quite a bit accomplished yesterday although not as much as I would have liked. It was a good day. The bad part NOW is that I don't have another day off until next Wednesday! x( So, I have a loooong work schedule ahead of me!
I guess what I need to do with the coffee thing is set it to brew just before I get up. My coffee maker has a timer that I can do that...I'm just afraid it won't taste as good because the grounds sit in the basket all night.
Glad things are jolly up there, Man!

12. The joys of working in retail. |
|
I certainly wouldn't be a happy bunny without week-ends.
When I'm at home I use a stove top jobby - it always seems to take a few years most of which is just heating up the water from cold. Meantimes my mood tends to be going downwards quite rapidly.
I'm still on my Shostakovich kick (it happens occasionally - then I ignore him for a few months) - nearly ordered a box set of his string quartets along with his 'cello concerti - I suspect that that will be finalised as soon as I see that I've been paid (should be tomorrow).

I HAVE heard that percolated coffee is VERY good though. I couldn't wait that long for it though in the mornings.

31. The coffee is indeed VERY good |

especially when freshly ground too.
It's also fascinating to watch - the top layer is empty and nothing appears to be happening, then suddenly the coffee starts flowing out of the wee spout thing, and then it fills up rather quickly.

I hear it's chilly up there. We're still in the upper 80's here in Florida. Except for this Wilma thing, the weather would be grand! I hate hurricanes.

You see over here we have these strange things called "seasons" which you don't get in Florida. :P
Fortunately, we don't get hurricanes either - in fact our weather is almost entirely benign (but endlessly fascinating).

39. I like it that we have "fall" weather all winter long... |

I got sick and tired of the snow and ice and below zero wind chills in Missouri. 60 isn't TOO bad though.

The trees are barely swaying - I get an occasional mini-gust through the window.
I actually rather like weather like this - at least there's plenty of light.
Hope that work's jollying along most merrily.

Which makes a change. Thursday is usually my best day for working - as one of the people with whom I normally sit around bitching if off, plus today the other one is off as well.
Strange getting this work stuff accomplished - off feeling, but is actually rather good, as the day does pass more swiftly. :)

My first class is at 9, but I have to get there by 8 to hope for any kind of decent parking spot. I'll probably nap when I get home. I only have two classes today.

I guess it's the same at all colleges. Here at FSU, people have to do the same thing. Get there an hour ahead...sit in a lot waiting for someone to come leave and hope you can get their spot.

|
I took early classes just because it's like a demolition derby in that garage after 8:30am. I could play that game when I had my crappy 30 year old Volvo, but not any more. You'd think since we paid so much for a parking permit that it'd be slightly easier to find a place to park.

Think mediaeval street plan meets modern parking needs.
On the other hand - the whole town was tiny and so very few people bothered with cars, and just walked around.

Baltimore is not suited for walking, unless you're downtown. But if you're on the outskirts of town like I am now, you have to drive. Or take the bus, which is terribly unreliable.

My housemate woke me up when he and his girlfriend came in this morning.
His room is right next to mine.
So I got to hear him and his girlfriend hooking up. Great. That took an hour and a half.
I gave up on going back to sleep around 5:30.
Kill me now? Please?
