What do I do if shirt sleeves are too short? Is there a "tall" designation
I'm kinda tall, and wear a 34/35 dress shirt, but sleeves are almost always far too short for me, by like 1-2 inches in the sleeve. Am I going to have to special order shirts that really fit, or buy some hugely expensive ones? Or shop at "Big & Tall"? It seems like there would be tons of people in this predicament.

It's not so bad unless I'm wearing a jacket, but I'm doing that incresingly more often these days.

Tips???

1. Sounds like you need to do yourself a favor...
...and go to Men's Wearhouse or something similar. Sounds like you need a full crash course in business attire!

3. Find yourself a tailor

I don't know how much you're willing to spend but if you go to most places that sell shirts and suits, they'll have tailors there, or find another one. Tailored shirts are obviously more expensive, but if you wear the shirts alot you'll really find the worth in it if you're an 'odd' size. What they'll end up doing is taking a larger shirt, and tailoring it down to fit you perfectly. It really isn't THAT expensive.

Otherwise try a big and tall store.

on edit * I should note that for a while I had to wear business attire every day and I'm an 'odd' size myself (barrel chested with over a 10 inch drop and a really big neck) and I had all my shirts semi-tailored to fit me comfortably.

4. Hmmmm...
Okay, so give me a ballpark figure for a tailored shirt...

I'm enjoying dressing well on a budget, and doing pretty well at it, buuuut, there are some things that I understand I just can't get around without spending $.

5. Under 100 bucks. Maybe even 50.
http://www.bestcustomshirt.com/home.htm is one I just found that will do it online. You'll have to go to a tailor and get your measurements and then you can order shirts online, send them your measurements and they'll send you shirts. From 49 bucks to 165.

Definately more than a regular shirt, but if you're constantly wearing them it's so worth it. Honestly. Get just one and try it out. Treat yourself. You get what you pay for. Most people hate 'formal wear' because they're wearing generic shirts or jackets. A fitted tailored shirt, particularly a decent quality one...it just makes you feel better.

I say that as someone who generally HATES to wear collared shirts and ties. A tailored one really makes a difference.

9. Try online...
www.landsend.com and www.llbean.com carry shirts in the 'tall' designation. My husband wears a MT, which is tough to find, but he's been able to find shirts he's happy with from them. Keep an eye on their sales, and you should be able to get things in the $20-40 range.

10. First, get measured.
Once you find your sleeve length, shop for shirts that are sized by neck and sleeve measurements. Lands End has some.

My husband has long arms, too. If he can't get the right sleeve length, he gets a tall shirt.
